My singer futura messed up and would not pull up the bobbin thread, asked Singer about it and was told I wasn't threading it right. Send it to them and they will fix it. Instead I ordered a tutorial from Singer Top of Texas for $20.00 on how to set the timing. It worked! My son had it fixed in 15 minutes. So I had another, the Singer ce250 that has been sitting in a corner over 2 years not working. Did the same repair and now it works too. I paid a repairman 150.00 and did not want to spend anymore money on it. He told me he replaced a melted gear but there is no plastic gear even there. He slapped some black grease on it and it never did work right. So ask here first when your machine messes up. Maybe someone has had the same experience. I'm happy!

Great news.

Mine is still away at the repairers :(

Our very own Cutie Sherry aka lawmedassistant used the very same one. I asked her advice, she told me go for it and I'm glad I did. The Singer Futura yahoo group also has info on it. They are great at answering questions and telling you what you need to do. Singer owners can check out Singer Top of Texas. The lady there Is Tina and she has a store, that is where the tutorial came from. She is very helpful as well.

Bev, I am so happy for you - that you found the tutorial and that your son was able to do the work for you on not one but two machines. That is super. Where did you find that tutorial or how did you search for it?

Wow that's really good news :) Was the timing hard to set .. as in are the instructions super easy to follow? Just wondering if I need to find similar instructions for my Brother (emb machine) or Janome (sewing only machine) in case I need one in the future. :) xXx

It was easy, I don't know about other brands . The instruction were step by step with pictures, showed you where to go next. I DO NOT recommend fixing your own machines but I did not want the expense of sending it off. All you needed was an allen wrench. Sherry aka lawmedassistant also used the same tutorial and fixed her machine as well. She gave me advice that I could do it myself. Thank you Sherry!

Wait until you actually need it, they email it to you same day so no waiting.
