i CANT THINK OF ANYTHING LSE TO SAY THAT HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN SAID BUT WOW.......................SOOZIE
wow how lucky you are to be sew close to such a find! There is sew much love in this quilt IT REALLY SHINES THROUGH! well done
Absolutely! Reuse, restore, recycle, repurpose! Lots of re's! thanks for sharing it! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
What a cleaver idea. The old war cry use and reuse put to practical use. What a great quilt. Hugs Joyce
Fabntastic work and smashing comments. Too many to give flowers to all, timewise, it would be nice if all comments were given a flower when you give a flower to the original post. Jan
What a great job you have done. Looks like many hours have gone into making this lovely quilt. Well done.
Terrific quilt! I think you ought to enter it into a show so that others can be inspired to use up their...or others!...scraps!
OMG, Deanna, what a great sense of design you have!!
This is totally awesome.......
I love this quilt... so colourful & interesting.
Can just see a little one kept amused for hours looking at all the pictures & having their imagination run wild.
Great job!
Thank you. I originally started making these for the children's hospital, but the hospital won't take them because some of the fabric has been clothes. Sad, huh?
What a wonderful way to use up "pre-loved" pieces of fabric. It's a great idea Deanna and I think you might have started something amongst the rest of the Cuties on here.
It is beautiful, so colourful and beautifully made. Love and blessings C
Thank you! Wouldn't it be great for everyone to make one and then share what they have done? I think that would be loads of fun!! Anyone up for a challenge? I'm working on another one. :)
What an inspiration! Just goes to show that one man's or woman's trash is another man or woman's treasure! Your quilt is great.
Thank you. Isn't that the truth though? I'm just amazed at what people consider garbage. I've been scoring quarter and half yard pieces, tossed out. Beautiful high end stuff.
I took a closer look at your designs. A little bit of everything. It makes me sad that I just threw away a number of my husbands pants that were torn beyond repair. Oh what I could have done with them. You are truly an inspiration. Way to go. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Most of the jeans I worked with were very well loved. But that is what applique and heavy embroidery is for!! Sorry you have been inspired after the fact....but there will be more. Never fear. Even if it comes from your neighbors or friends.
You have worked wonders with all the garbage. I love the quilt. Great work.
Nice job ! Im saving jeans that dont fit anyone and are too worn to wear to make one soon !Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. You will have a blast in the process! I haven't stopped at one. I have several more in the works.
I love making these kinds of quilts...In some ways they become more a part of you than some of the ones that are planned and fixed so precise. One of our challenges in our quilt guild was to make a quilt out of things you would normally throw away and it became one our all time favorites...
You did a great job with this one...keep it up...
Thank you. I think a challenge like that would be loads of fun. I love challenges. :)
Amazing, great job...beautiful "GREEN" idea. Thanks for sharing.
I too, believe that we are living in a disposable age. People don't take care of things and instead of fixing or repairing, just throw out and get a new one. I like recycling, and this is the perfect example of it. Thanks for showing us and for doing such an excellent job. What is on the reverse side?
You are completely right, that is my opinion, too. My grandmother said always :
Don´t throw away today , what you will need tomorrow :)
To watch good stuff getting thrown away just hurts! The back is a piece of brushed denim...that was in the garbage can at a Goodwill store. It was still on the bolt. And was exactly the right size for this project.
Lucky you! Right place at the right time.I asked a question in Comm. about what to do with all my denim. My grandson, 19, saw the quilts that were done and now wants to start saving his old jeans, for me to make him a quilt. So now it is teaching him not to throw away.
That is so incredibly awesome. You should save his shirts too, and put them all together. He would love it.
That´s a master-peace, I do like to recycle materials myself . I reserve all the things other people trough in the trash and sonner or later I pimp them up or make new things --- In my opinion we trough tu much in trash. Very good work
Big hug from Portugal
I don´t meant that I reserve things from other people. I only reserve my old things
Thank you!
If someone throws it out, then I think it is fair game. There would be less waste that way.
Like my Aunt Helen used to say one man's trash is another man's Treasure! Great job!
Beautiful - I love what you've done! That's the way I think of "garbage". I have a couple of boxes of scraps and keep saying "don't throw that out - it can be of use". Part of it is just getting the imagination going, but once you start, your hands can't work as fast as your brain!
Wonderful job!
Thank you! Isn't that the truth!! Once you get started, then the scraps get used up in a hurry. And then the "crumbs" go in to critter beds for the local Humane Society. No waste.
How GREEN you are! And how AWESOME this blanket looks!!! Great inspiration to us all. Thanks for posting! Great work!
so cute you are giving me some ideas I will have to go to my son's room thanks
Thank you.
Very cool. When you finish your project, be sure to post. It inspires for more great stuff!
Like the result ! And yes it is indeed beeter if You write it is all from scraps ! It is true many things are thrown away but still can be of use to others.
Nice job !
This is beautiful, what a great piece of work. Just shows that everything (almost) can be used
Thank you. And you are right. I'm constantly looking for new uses for "used up stuff".
What a fun way to use garbage - it never LQQKed better. This is really a fun quilt - you could spend alot of time view each square and still not see all the details - you did GREAT.
Well, thank you very much! I wish I could have got a good picture of it, but my son moved out and took his professional camera equipment with him.
I'm impressed, really great work and very beautiful patterns.
This is sooo awesome, how big are the blocks
Thank you!!! Each block is 5 1/2". The finished quilt is a full/double size.
this is lovely, this must have been a lot of hard work xx
Thank you! It was, but it was a labor of love! Sewing takes me away from all of the problems of the world; at least temporarily. :)
I just love your quilt!!!! Isn't it great to be able to take a whole lot of scrap and turn it into something great? Well done :) You have inspired me to get out all my scraps and have fun!!!
Thank you.
You should create with scraps. They are just full of potential!! Share what you make. It is fun to see what others can do with their bits and pieces.
It's amazing what you can do with peoples leftovers - your quilt looks great!
Your quilt is beautiful especially since you made it with throwouts. I'm sure you are very satisfied. Good job!!!
Thank you. I am satisfied. This is one of my most favorite creations to date.
IT looks wonderful! I am still using pieces of fabric thrown out for garbage collection by a sheet & pillowcase manufacturing business near where my son had a business. We asked if we could have some and filled up the back of a panel van. Not long after this they started to sell it by the bagful.
Thank you!
Oh wow! What a major score!! Good thing you managed the freebies before the owners decided to charge. Isn't it fun??
Oh my goodness. I envy your skill at placing the pieces together, I never know what to put with what. This is a keepsake for sure.
Donna
No skill. I put them in the dryer and pulled out one piece at a time. That way they were adequately mixed up. :) Try it. You will love it, or your money back.
this is stunning.. great job.. a real treasure.. don't forget you put a label on it with your name and date..
This is fantastic I love it! You felt like a kid in candy shop gathering to make and this is eye candy. Fun to take in the fabric different colors and designs.
Trying again.
Here is a better picture; less blurry. It is fairly high res, so you can click it for a better image.

What a beautiful quilt..one that will make everyone take a second look before throwing away there garbage. You've made a fantastic colourful gorgeous piece keepsake...a true treasure! Thank you.
Oh thank you!!! I was like a kid in a candy shop with this one. I grew up in a time where "extra" and "throw away" wasn't always an option.
