Since I can't fine blank baby blankets around here I buy the Fleece material by the yard and make them myself. I do buy onsies and embroider on them since it's really cheaper than making them with the time you would have. I also buy sweatshirts and make them into jackets (much cheaper) especially if you can find them on clearance. Recently bought sweatshirts for $2.00 each. Sure can't make them for that price. The time you put into making an item from scratch plus cost of material and maybe even patterns it's much more cost effective to buy already made. a few years ago I found plain ladies blouses on clearance for $2.50 and embroidered lady bugs on the collars and cuffs then put a matching bigger design on the blouse. sold them all right away and could have sold more. Clearance racks are my favorite place to buy things. One time I found really nice towel sets with 2 towels, 2 hand towels an 2 wash cloths for $3.00 per set. I made 2 sets out of them and sold each set for $20.00 a set. Bought every set on the shelf and sold them all right away. One thing I found out is kids love the faded jean look and I found some jackets at our local Goodwill store in A-1 condition. Washed and starched them, embroideed them and they went fast. Learned that from another crafter who was doing it. Something you may want to try. With the cost of material these days I buy pre made if I can. Hope this gives you a few ideas. Would be interested in hearing what others here do. Hugs
thanks for sharing,
I think I am going to go the already made route. I have started checking out blanks but nothing confirmed yet. There are alot of possibilities out there but I do not want to spend so much time looking for things but I am still no further ahead.
Thanks again
hugs
