I would like to see pics! I too think I have seen a couple different styles. Thanks - if you know of a free design...

Are you talking about Planet applique's pockets? It is done in two hoopings.

Do you have a link to the pocket toppers you are talking about? If we could see the design, we might be able to help you better. What I do is tap the top of the pocket down, but then they haven't had hands that are supposed to sit on the pocket.

there are many, usually animals but there are some cute chef pocket designs at Artistic Thread Works with hands that are UNDER the line for the pocket. thanks for asking. Betty

what happens to the "hands" that look like they are on top of the pocket? are they not designed to look like they are "SITTING" on the shirt with hands on the pocket? still not getting it. thanks for your help. Betty

I would pin or baste the top edge of the pocket down so it doesn't get caught in the design, then just stitch the carefully placed design to sit just above the top edge of where the pocket should be.

thanks, makes sense but i have hands which look like they sit on the pocket and that would also sew the pocket closed. Betty

Betty, that sounds like a really cute design! Like someone is trying to climb out of the pocket?!

If you have a 'fix' on your machine it will outline the area the design will stitch then move the design down in the hoop (if your machine will do this)and line up the bottom of the hoop with the bottom of top of the pocket - or - remove the pocket, stitch the design, then resew the pocket on.
