Thank you for your answers cuties...(I only just found this - was away for a day + fri & sat)
Unfortunately the path described although clearly described, doesn't follow on my computer.
Maybe because I'm using windows7 OS ???
Meganne I used to be able to 'defrag' when I was running XP, but can't on this (no need apparently)
I'm no tech head (unfortunately).,
but
I do run C/Cleaner on a regular basis which sorts out most temp files/cookies etc.
I just wasn't sure about the embird warning.
I'm thinking I'll just say 'yes' to deleting contents of temp folder, and hopefully nothing will be lost :)
Windows 7 is set up to regularly defrag by default.
If you open and save your zip files when you get them, there is nothing to worry about selecting "yes".
If you use C/Cleaner, you don't need to worry about trying to do it the long way.
Meganne's way is so that Techs can see what is inside the temp files. They do that looking for viruses.
Windows has an easier way to remove temp files. If anyone is interested, send me a PM if you want to know how.
You should delete everything stored in TEMP folders as part of your weekly computer housekeeping.
Back up 'C' Drive to portable hard drive
Delete contents of TEMP Folders
Delete contents of Temp internet folders
If you use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express for your email you should also clean up the following:
Delete all unnecessary emails in inbox
Delete all unnecessary emails in Sent folder
Delete whole contents of Deleted folder
Empty Rubbish bin
Defrag folders
This is basic housekeeping, it helps keep your computer running cleanly and prevents it from slowing down due to unnecessary files clogging up its swap space.
If you don't know how to do all this you should ask an experienced computer geek to show you. It is worth paying a technician to do it the first time and take copious notes so you can then do it yourself.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
If you have checked the folder as the two Cuties have explained, and you have saved all the files in the folder, then next time it asks "do you want to delete the contents..." select "Yes"
Hi Kitty, to find your temp file, look at the message above and it's the address of where the file is. Click on My Computer, then click on drive C: then click on Kitty, then click on AppData, then on Local, then on Temp, you should be in that folder! Hope this works.
Embird will store your files in a temporary file folder untill you unzip them to a designated file. Pull up your temporary file, open it and see what files you have in it. If you have those files somewhere else then delete out of temporary folder. There are other computer Gurus here that will answer your question more in depth but this will help until they do/Lilliam
Thanks lilliam., I'm not sure where that temp file is... will have to have a ferret around.
Glad dolly came to the rescue, I didn/t realize you did not know how to find it./Lillian
