The 780D was my first machine. Loved it so much I bought a Quattro (6000D). I kept the 780D as a backup (in case the other is in the shop) and when I am working on things for a show I can run both at the same time. As long as the 5*7 is big enough for the things you want to do (and most of what I make is that size or smaller) then I think it is a good machine.
As for justification - I struggled with that too - I could not rationally "justify" the Quattro expense but I decided that I REALLY REALLY enjoy embroidery and the happiness I get from doing it made it worth it for me.
I hear you on the changing over - not overly easy - and I don't. I use my Quattro just for embroidery. I have another machine for just sewing.
Thank you for your encouragement. I really like the idea of having a back-up (as in my current 900) for times when the other (new) may be in the shop too.
lyns... I don't want the second machine so that I can be using 2 machines for embroidery at the same time.
I just want to keep my 900 for normal sewing and as a back-up.
I just find changing between sewing and embroidery to be a total pain.
Yes., I'd love a bigger hoop area (wouldn't we all) but the price jump to the next size up is crazy.. I can't justify it at all.
Go for it then. the 900 & the 750/780 are great partners. I use my 5x7 hoop the most & I sewed a queen sized patchwork donna cover with my 900. xx
Oh., good to hear you use your 5x7 most. I'm totally in love with my 900 that's why I want to keep it for normal sewing. I'll let you know what I do.
I have had a look at the 780D on the internet for you. It looks nearly the same as my 7x5 hoop Innovis, I have two Inovvis the other is a 4x4 hoop,
Both are fantastic, Have fun.
Hugs Pam.
The first one I had is the Innovis 900,
4x4 hoop direct link from lap top to machine for files. the second is the Inovis 750e 7x5 hoop files input by usb .
Both are fantastic.I know that there are loads of better machines out there, but I could not affod them. I am happy with the brothers.
hugs Pam.
Let me say as well, it is good to have two hoop sizes, you will use the small hoop to save stabalizer on a small designs. I have an old Bernina I keep for just sewing.
Good to hear. Yes, loads bigger out there, but I have to think of price too., good to hear you're happy with your combo. Thanks
Get it. I had a 750D and he was a workhorse. xx
It's such a lot of money just for the pleasure of having 2 machines though isn't it. But it is a larger hoop area & it means I wouldn't have to keep swapping over IYKWIM
I had 2 machines & found it a pain. They seemed to always want the same colour or you would set one going just to have the other one need something. Plus the room it took up too. I recently sold my 3100D & 750D and got a 4000. He is much faster, easier to use, and I have heaps of bench space. Do you really need a second machine?
... use. Do you really need a second machine? Plus the 780 only has a 5x7 hoop. Is that big enough?
