When I saw this the other day I knew I had to give it a try. The design is from sadiasews.com. There are two firsts for me here, the first time I did a lace design with more than one part and the first time that I used cotton thread. I used 30wt cotton on both the top and the bobbin and it gives a nice weight to the doily. All in all I am pleased with the outcome. I know I will be making more like this.

The center part has 7715 stitches and each of the four outside parts has 17,239 stitches. Each part of the design is approximately 3.5 by 3.5 at it widest so it fits a 4x4 hoop. It creates a very dense design.

Fancy design- it turned out lovely :-) I've always wanted to try cotton thread but I'm worried how that would work out. I've read that using cotton means having to clean fibers out of the machine often...What do you use for stabilizer and do you double layer it?

I have used Mettler 30 wt cotton for lace and it make tons of lint in the bobbin area. Just be sure to vac out that area very well after your project. The results are worth the effort! Hugs. Nan W

Lint did not seem to be a problem. I don't know how to answer the stabilizer question because I save all of my water soluble stabilizer and dissolve it. Then I pour it onto a plate to dry, making a new sheet that I use for my lace projects. This creates a very heavy wash away stabilizer It works great for me and I waste nothing.

a very heavy sheet of wash away. It works for me and I waste nothing. I guess if I were going to do a lot of lace I would have to figure out something else to use.

It is Coats and Clark, mercerized cotton. The label says machine quilting & crafts. I got it at Walmart because that is my only local source for sewing stuff.
