Back from Uganda - Andrea called to say Pavel has returned home safely to Colorado after delivering our precious quilts to the children in Uganda! Yeah! She said Pavel's mother is really relieved - her 21 year old son went half way around the world, by himself, carrying 103 homemade quilts, and worked with these kids for a whole month in the slums of Uganda, teaching them math and how to do laundry, cleaning and bandaging their sores. He ate the same food as the orphans. I'd be pretty worried too. She has to be very proud of this young man. He is in great shape and quite excited to tell his story. (He'll be at Adam's Camp in 8 days when Ben goes.)

Andrea said he did great with the pictures of the kids with the quilts, and they are going to meet this week to make a video for us! Yeah! She said there is a really good shot of the little girls wearing the dresses too! They will post the video on line for us all to see.

We came within ten dollars for the extra baggage, and extra donations were spent on the kids - I don't know yet how. I don't know if we were over or under. But we were close enough! Praise God! Whew!

I can't wait to see those pictures!!! Hugs and blessings, Jan

I had no idea. I thought that the people going were missionaries who were going back and forth! How neat! Thank you for the update. With Pavel, what a fantastic thing to do for his age. I would be a concerned mom too. My son just took off a week ago for a trip across our continent. He, fortunately, can check in with me every day or two.

I know what you mean! All she heard was what we heard, little bits and pieces that he was okay!

Such a wonderful thing you all managed to do!!!! From the one who thought up the quilt idea to the mother who 'let' her son travel to a foreign land and to the young man who did all the worthy work!!
While watching the video on Utube, I just had to pause and take this picture.

Oh! Andrea also told me that because of Pavel's relationship with this "Raising Up Hope" for Uganda, since he was there, he was able to help them get a $20.000 grant for some help from a philanthropic group in the US What a blessing!

Wow I didn't realize he was so young and that he went alone with all those quilts. I saw his video and he really is inspiring. Its one thing to donate from the comfort of your home and another deal entirely to go and live with the kids. You can see the love pour out when he speaks of the kids. Thanks
for letting us help a wee little bit. Looking forward to the video.

Isn't this just such an amazing thing for a young man to do! I guess their food is really bland and tasteless. He did it! What a guy - I don't think I could have. Wasn't it a treat to be involved?? Hugs, Jan
