I visit a lot of quilting sites and have DL a stack of babyquilts PDF. The colours and layouts are all wonderful ideas.
I try to choose my baby quilts embroidery designs so that the child at age 2 and upwards would still enjoy the designs. If it is too babyfied then it is packed or discarded too soon.
Here is a link to one of the quilting sites.
Happy stitching Bev
I made a quilt using "Things that Go" applique designs in my great nephew's nursery material. It turned out to be one of the best things I've done. They loved it so much it is used as a wall hanging instead of a quilt. I can't remember exactly where I got the set of designs but will search for them for you to find out what the site is, if you think you would like the designs.....
I've also seen space designs and robots that are really cute and different....
Congratulations, Mary!! You can't go wrong with trucks and cars for little boys, or the sports theme; baseball, football, soccer, etc.
I am so happy for all of you! Nothing more special than a new bundle of joy!
You could use just about any blue/brown combination fabric.....dosn't have to be "baby" fabric. Some of the most expensive sets I have seen are not baby themed..I helped a woman pick out brown/blue/cream colored, fabrics one time for a baby boy....in polka dots, stripes and solids..She was extremely happy with it.
what was your son's favorite things?? My son's was dinosaurs. I have made his son a dinosaur quilt. For the baby quilt, if you know the name.. I put the baby's name in the center a letter for each block. I embroidered objects with that letter in each blocks. They had a black lab so I embroidered a black lab in a block. Cow jumping over the moon in another. Nursery rhymms that they like..
how about farm animals with fences and buildings etc, or pirates, they are "in "right now
good luck
I dont know why but I think of the ocean and sand but probably not good for this. Have fun coming up with a great theme!
Lots of other themes to choose from! Vehicles, toys, games, numbers, alphabet..... I like blues and browns. As Shirlene says - go shopping for fabric and be inspired!
There are so many wonderful fabrics out with those colors - you will have fun shopping for them. If you are asking - what to embroider - that could be almost anything but the Zoo them - all baby things can be stitched in those color and look wonderful - especially any redwork.
