I buy my threads from Marathon threads in Australia or Creek Creations. I have found both excellent.
Thank you again... loads of new options to look at :) I have a busy day ahead, but when I get a chance I will check out all the links etc. thanks cuties
I buy King Star Poly from Embroidery Source in Melbourne (Alphington/Fairfield). I can either Fax, Phone, or go in person and use the large cones so I don't need to shop for it often.
If you go to the Online store and select a strip (of colours) it'll give prices. Bit of a long drive for you, even though it's 'just' the neighbouring State!
Does anyone have a working link to Theda Thread website?
The one below doesn't work!
I use Metro. My machines love it and it is very inexpensive. It is always best to start with a few spools of any kind though to see how it works for you. I have 144 spools of some stuff that my machines hate sitting in my closet.
Wow., thank you all so much for your answers...
I have a lot of info to look into now.
The metro at 50 reels for approx $34 sounded great, except that I have since found out that postage to australia is an extra $60 !!!!!!!!!
So now I'm going to check out all the other links & information you've posted.
thanks
hugs kitty
Sorry hope this link will work for you.
:)
I have used Theda threads verigated rayon threads and they are very beautiful colours and sew out so well. Hugs Joyce
The link to Threda threads is not working.
Can anyone give a working link to Threda Threads?
Kitty, I mainly use threads bought from thedathreads in Brisbane. Awesome to work with and never had a problem with any of the colours. Love thier varigated ones too. They have a hugs range and postage is usually about $11 for the bulk I purchase.:I did buy from Metro but the postage is huge.
hugs Helen

I wouldn't buy a large quantity of any thread at first. Some machine are picky about thread. So buy a couple of spools and try them out to see if your machine likes the thread. Also, some machines (like mine) dislike certain colors in a thread line too.
Brother mall sells both Raobins Anton threads and Madeira threadsm in Rayon or Polyester.
BFC-Stash sells great thread.

I bought Gammut threads recently & they work really nicely & have a nice shine to them also polyester! There are quite reasonably priced too! Good luck Hugs Loralye
I am trying different threads. Madeira and Sulky rayon thread works ok but I need to use thread nets with it. Madeira Metallic a bit of a challenge but large eye needles, silicon applied to thread, use vertical spindle and baby it along and was ok that way. BFC (from BFC creations) polyester worked great -good price. Essential 100% Cotton Satin Finish Thread from connecting threads for fsl worked and looks great and a good price.I have an old Viking Rose machine.
Love Metro, inexpensive, but shipping to OZ might be prohibitive. They use flat-rate boxes, and I know there are International flat-rate boxes, but what the cost of them to OZ I don't know. Good luck, Marji
I started with all different makes, and found out my 2 machines, 1 or the other does not like many ot the companies threads, and I love Metro and so do both of my machines. I even got the varigated because they are so beautiful. I don't use much varigated. Hugs, Judy
MetroEmb.com is my favorite - almost all I use. From my experience, the postage is quite reasonable - to the US they have lots of flat rate items (and I think I saw no more than $10.95).
Living in Saudi Arabia I don't have much of a choice!! I use the available thread, Sunflower, it's not bad but there is a lot of breakage.... oh well!!
I use Robison Anton rayon and Metro poly. I think with metro it depends on how many spools you buy. If you get a lot, it can go in one of those boxes that you can fill till it's full. I think that is around 9.95. That's the most I have ever paid and it was worth it because the thread was on sale and so inexpensive. Hugs..Carol
Hi carol, thanks. Can you tell me which country the $9.95 applies to.. where are you?... i'm in australia.
I use Metro a lot. They are in USA
Thanks crafter., I'm now trying to find out the postage cost. I've written to them so just waiting for a reply.
Kitty, my Brother machine likes Metro Threads, and their price is much more reasonable than many. The colors are vibrant; I love them! They are in USA.
Angel
Thanks Angel, I need to find out what the postage charge is now.. I go take another look & see if I can work it out.
I got the Brother colour set from creek creations. Very happy with the quality of thread and delivery was quick too. Lyn. xx
I use RA and Maderia rayon and Hemmingworth Polyselect they all sew out beautifully on my Janome. As for 100% cotton I use King Tut or Rasant. Hugs joyce
Thanks joyce. I haven't heard of RA ? or Hemmingworth Polyselect, do you buy them online & is the price good?
I use Robison Anton 40 wt rayon and Madeira 40 wt rayon. Their quality is great and their shine and colors are superb.
Hugs, Lidia
The last time I ordered thread it was from Metro. I bought the large package and have been very pleased with the results. I also have used Sulky with good results, Maderia and RA. For the value I will choose Metro. Good value, good thread and good results. Hugs, Mary
Kitty, I use Isacord due to the type of machine I have...Bernina S Series 830. It needs a high speed thread and almost never breaks the Isacord...everything else breaks in this machine...
I get 5000m spool on sale at IMachine Group for $6 on sale every few months they have this sale...
that sounds like great thread. but I'm thinking the reels could be a little large for me ?
I wouldn't be able to buy a huge variety of colours if I get that size.
I have the full range of madiera thread. I find it works very well I have also found it lasts well if items are frequently washed!
I just recently ordered polyester 40w from Metro threads and am quite pleased, great price. I also have many Maderia colors (more expensive) and some sulky,
Ok ., I've just looked up Metro, but can't work out where they are, are they USA? Postage price could be a lot.
