On my computer when I press Alt+PrtScr, the entire page will automatically be sent to my printer and be printed out. I don't always want that. The newer computers make it easier to select a portion of a page to print (snipping). But even older computer like mine that has XP, you can Select/PrintSelection and just print part of the page. Sometimes I have to fiddle a little to just select only the part I want, but it works.
Some websites have more sophisticated protection against people copying what they post. I bought a program called...are you ready for this?..."Printscreen" that lets me copy things that are supposedly blocked or won't let me "Select". Printscreen lets me draw a box like you do in snipping. However, in the past year, I've come across two or three sites that I have been totally unable to print from.
Also, sometimes I don't want to print but want to save the picture or whatever. So I Select/File/SaveAs and save it into a folder just as you would anything else. Saves on printer ink.
Yeah! I have been wondering how to do that! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I am not sure I have ever seen that paint page before.
Thanks for this question... now I know what my snipping too is thanks to sue :)
I used to do that before I discovered the snipping tool (on Windows 7 and Vista) I have the shortcut on my task bar and I click on it, put a box around what I want to keep and save. Easy peasy!
HA! Didn't notice that tool before! Both my husband and I will enjoy the heck out of that little diddy. Thanks!
Wish we could install it. we have spent time on Google looking how to install, but it is not avalable for mine.
Hugs Pam.
It could be hidden in "Accessories". It is part of the Windows Vista package. It took me a while to find it on my old laptop.
Yes you are great, it was there all the time. many thanks for your trouble, will get it put on my tool bar .
Hugs Pam.
There's also a free add-on to the Chrome browser called "Screen Capture" that gives several options on what to save.
Thank you- been many many years since I used the print screen button - had forgotten just what to do.
