We live in the high mountains in Colorado, and basically have fire in all directions. But, for now, we are safe, and there are no fires close by. There is lots of smoke in the air. All Fourth of July fireworks have been cancelled - whew! IT is really dry here, so dry the thunder clouds just rumble and we see lightning. We are sitting on a tenderbox. We still have lots of dead trees around the area from the pine beetle attack. So, please please pray for the firefighters. I'm going to pack a box of sentimental items in case we have to evacuate. It's never been so close and so real.

I've been keeping updated about the fires from daughter in AZ. If you need, then you do have a fire-escape plan ready, don't you. My thoughts are with those thousands of poor people who have evacuated and then lost their homes, or stayed and watched their homes burn down. Fire is one of the fears we live with here, too, and I've told DIL in their house down the hill that if a fire threatens, get the children in the car and into town, do it while she has time to get out safely, let the house go.... we can rebuild a dwelling but we can't bring back lives.
I'm sure you already know this and I hope you will remain safe wherever you are. I also send thoughts of safety for those brave firemen and firewomen who do their best to keep others safe.
AlmaG.

I have been praying and will continue to pray for all involved. We know folks in the area. It is too scary to comprehend. I am glad you are getting prepared in case you have to leave. Remember your photos and any other things that you cannot replace through insurance.

Please stay safe. Please plan for the worse (packing up what you need to take if the time comes that you must go) and we will all pray for the best.

Jan, my first thought was of you and your family yesterday, when I heard of the fires in Colorado. I wondered how far they were away from you and your family. Be cautious, and take care! So glad you are safe!!
Hugs,
Angel
