Quilt as you go?

I have been making crazy quilt blocks. I haven't sewn in the decorative stitches yet.

This will be my first quilt (I have only made totes with my first blocks). I came across this video (link below) and had a thought and wanted to run it past the seasoned quilters.

I thought of sewing in the decorative stitches as per usual, then using an invisible thread to quilt the block to the batting and backing. Then I attach the blocks using the decorative stitches and machine sew instead of hand sewing.

My blocks were made to be on point and I think I can pull it off.

What do you Cuties think? Am I missing anything?

And invisible thread is new to me is it strong enough for a childs quilt?

I have a picture of two of the blocks, one pink quilt for my eldest daughter and one purple quilt for my youngest daughter. The girls picked out the designs they liked and I picked out the fabrics from the scraps and fabric stash.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

I think that you can & that you have done a great job sew far, If your still not sure why not make a practise one with say a doll sized block that way you can still use the finished one for gd doll bed? Just a thought, Good Luck Lucy, Hugs Loralye

I've used invisible thread on placemats, Monofilament Polyester, it hasn't melted! When you trim the wadding, overlap both sides and cut both at the same time so they fit together well. There's a fusible tape for joining batting, and stick the folded-under edges of the backing fabric down with temp adhesive and stitch in the ditch from the right side. That's what I would do. Hope this helps. Jan
