hi everyone ...
just in case you missed this information on tv ... hackers are
spreading a virus which is suppose to officially infect thousands
of computers tomorrow ... the fbi has been working on this and
have provided a test so that you can instantly see if it has been
installed on your pc ... people have it on their pcs now and
will not know that unless they use this type of fbi test and
the hackers are going to turn the switch on tomorrow
the fbi test is instant and requires no downloading or
installing ... when i first went to it it took hours before
i actually got on which i am assuming was caused by
heavy traffic ... i plan on testing several times again
anyway here is the fbi link which will explain it
better than i can ... and it will link you to the test and
how to fix it if you do have

I got a URL error when I tried to add it as a link. But all you have to do is click on the area where you live and it will tell you if you are GREEN or not. Yay, I'm green and hope all of you are as well.
Actually, they already caught the hackers. The FBI provided replacement servers to keep those already infected online and give them a chance to fix it. Those servers will be turned off on Monday. Those infected will not be able to access the internet Monday.
Monday and will need help from their ISP or other professional to get back on the internet.
If you are Green today, you will be fine Monday.
I tried both sites lidted and figured out where to go easily from sewmary15's addy. AND I'M GREEN ON THE COMPUTER!!! Now to check the other 2 computers! Thanx sewmary!!!
I TRIED THAT SITE AND THOUGHT IT WAS DIFFICULT. AN EASIER WAY TO FIND OUT IF YOU COMPUTER IS AT RISK IS TO GO TO
www.dns-ok.us FOR THOSE OF YOU IN THE USA. If it comes up GREEN you are ok.... If it comes up RED you are at risk and must update. (I don't know how you do that)
MJDG
Which site did you find difficult?
If your computer is "RED" then you will need help before Monday.
Nice to know I won't be shut down. Thanks for the reminder on this.
The link did not come all in as an answer. There were and are some Macs affected. It has to do with the server.
If you use a Mac, you shouldn't have to worry about this. :-)
Thank you for the link! I will run the test again on Monday. Thank you for this reminder.
Thankful hugs, Bonnie
If your computer tested "green" today you do not have to worry about this one on Monday. Many more are still lurking out there...so keep your anti-virus updated and turned on.
Not looking for extra flowers just trying to keep this ttt.
Thanks again sewmary15 for posting this. Thank you jofrog2000 for posting the Snopes link. Many governments and internet service providers have been preparing for Monday.
Hey, even Snopes says it's real, and a simple click will tell you your computer is okay.
What are the chances of any run of the mill person's computer being infected if they figure that less than 300,000 cumputers WORLDWIDE are infected? Slim to none as a guess. I'd be much more worried about the sites I download designs from are hacked and infected.
Muffy :)
You are right about the odds worldwide. However, the number of Cute users who complain of viruses and because sites many Cuties visit that are hacked or infected...the chances increase. It is such a quick and easy check. Those who don't see "Green" may have other infections too.
have other infections/viruses as well. Many users are not computer gurus. This is just a simple easy check. Simple and easy are rare words to use with computer virus checks.
Thank you, It could have changed my day. Now I do not have to worry. Live Laugh Download Stitch!
Thanks, I just went to the site and my computer is good! It's a very simple check so not to worry about getting this done.....
I think this is a misunderstood issue. I believe the article below explains it quite well.
The article includes the link I posted. It is run by a group working with the FBI
Thanks for the reminder. Good time to encourage all to back things up and update antivirus programmes. Especially if they're free as those often don't update automatically :)
This is a link to another site. I hope you have all checked your computers. Monday the DNSChanger malware will redirect (infected) computers to rogue servers, forcing users to fake websites and malicious ads. You cannot tell if you are infected just by looking at your computer. Check your computer before Monday. Please make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and turned on. If you don't have anti-virus software, send me a PM and I will help you find one that suits your needs.
Sorry, I was tired when posting. The malware was supposed to redirect to fake websites. As it is now your internet will not work on Monday if your computer is infected. Read the Huffington Post article bowlds posted.
