I was always afraid to use serger to ME as I thought it would break too much. I see that you were successful with it! Nicely done!
I did not have any problems with it. Years ago I had a Janome 8000 and I used serger thread for all my test stitching.
You did a great job on these dishtowels. Very nice :)
You used serger thread on top & embroidery thread in the bobbin? Very nice.
I did not use it in the bobbin, mostly because all my bobbins were full of other thread...I guess I need more! I am going to try doing fsl with serger thread in both, several Cuties said they have done that with great success.
Very beautiful. I think I have these patterns also. I do have one question - what is the difference between serger thread and bobbin thread? How do you know which one you are getting?
Serger thread is made for a serger. Maxi Lock is a brand name. Bobbin thread made for an embroidery machine is finer and less likely to "lint". I'm not sure how else to describe it.
These look really good using the serger thread. Shirley
They look great! I did these long ago as some of the first when I learned to embroider. (Workbasket magazine and Aunt Martha's transfers) Makes me laugh when I see them as "vintage".

This designers has lots of this type. They really stitched out nicely.
They are lovely. My mom used to do hand embroidery just like this on pillow cases and kitchen items with floss.
Aren't these cute? What is the weight of serger thread? Did you use the same thread on the bobbin?
I used regular embroidery bobbin thread since they aren't reversible. I used maxi lock server thread, not sure the weight, just regular serger thread. I am going to try a crochet design with serger thread in top and bottom though.
Oh, if you enlarge the picture and look at the green pot, that was regular tension and you can see the bobbin thread a bit, I loosened the top tension and the rest of the design looked great.
