I am so sorry! I am a canine rescuer and have had my own along with many more over the yrs. I love all of them as if they are family. I know how hurt you must be. Old and cripple, I now only have 1. Ms. Patty-Patches is adopted and I thank Amy and God for her everyday! I adopted her from AmyzArk in Tn. in Oct of 2007. I also had an older Peke at that time who had cancer. They enjoyed each other until Aug of 2010. Bebe had been with me since I helped deliver her. She was almost 15. They ARE worth any trouble you have to go to for them! I find it very hard to realize why anyone could be so mean! Canine rescue was alot of my life for almost 30 yrs. My Vet passed away and I moved away after I had surgery to be closer to family. I am 4 hrs away from home because my son had moved to Atlanta and insisted I move after the surgery. I think Patty was a gift to me so the move would be easier. I can not work any longer, in a strange place, and find it hard to go anywhere alone because I am cripple. I would be lost without my angel! Cry your tears and go out and find a new baby that needs a good home! Maybe a small one that can stay inside....It will not replace the other dog but it will help the new dog and you also! Hugs. Linda
I am so glad you have your Patty-Patches. Dogs make life so much nicer. I still have my other rescued dog who spent six years abused before she came to stay with us. She is depressed and misses her bossy best friend. She won't be playing in the backyard at night anymore.
at night anymore. Unitl I am sure it is safe, I won't add another rescue to our family.
What sad and bad news. Can't understand either when people do things like that. If you have a problem (if there is even a problem) , you should talk to the owners of the animal, and not hurt the animal. We live sometimes in a sad world.
Yes, sometimes this is a sad world. Thank you for your compassion. Most of the neighbors appreciated the reduced crime on our street. She looked mean but was usually quiet. She was a really good dog.
I am so sorry. No matter what the reason for loosing her is - it is hard. Maybe if you sent a picture to one of our great digitizers or do it yourself - you could stitch out a picture of her and put it up by your bed so you can see it every day.
OMG, I guess this is another reason I was brought to personals today. I am horrified & sick that this happened to you and your beloved pet. It renders me speechless...I have something I wrote down when I lost my Tobi 2 years ago & I keep it on my desk, I will share it with you...."We have a bond stonger than friendship or love and although now we cannot be together, we will never ever be apart". Know I am thinking of you and share your grief......Vicki
Thank you Vicki. Your friendship and sympathy mean a lot to me.
I keep trying to picture her romping and playing like when she was young. It helps quell the tears.
Basketkase, You brought tears to my eyes! I love my furbabies! It breaks my heart that my son married a dog (animal) hater. BUT.. on a lighter note...it keeps her out of my house! hehe I refuse to lock her up for anyone! She loves me all of the time and DIL only tolerates me when she wants something. It is not only me, she treats everyone that way. My son has to get permission to come and visit me. His 1st marriage, her 2nd. She has grown daughters and 3 grands.
DIL only when she wants something. I find it hard to understand how anyone can hate animals.
I'm so sorry for your loss. This is so hard for me to understand how humankind can be this cruel.
Thank you for your kindness. The support of others helps so much. Even my children have been blessed with comfort reading these comments over my shoulder.
I am so sorry and I am sooooo mad. It is beyond my understanding why someone would want to poison someones pet. Knowing that she would have had not much time due to cancer doesn't change the miserable act of this person. I am glad it makes you feel better knowing about her illness. (My rescued shepherd just came to my side. I guess she realized I was upset).
Hugs to rescuer
Angie
I am sorry to hear this. I don't understand how anyone can be so cruel. I can't watch the commercial's on TV as they make me cry. I just want to go and take all the abused Animals home to love.
People are so heartless sometimes. Hugs Jerri
She was the sweetest rescued animal ever! She has been there to lick the tears from my boys' faces and she has been such a comfort to me. Thank you for the hugs.
Sorry to hear of your sad news. They say what goes around comes around so hopefully who ever did this will suffer too. She will be waiting for you at rainbow bridge.
What a dreadful thing to happen - what makes someone do this? I am so very sorry. Sarah
I am so sorry to read your sad news. I am praying for you to find comfort that your puppy is with her Creator once again! I believe they all return to Him and He will also deal with those who abuse His creations. Hugs and God Bless!
Big Hugs. So Sorry you have lost your furry child. We have had warnings here in Tamworth NSW about pets being baited with antifreeze. hugs Helen
I lost a cat that way. People can be mean, she was a very sweet cat. My kids were heartbroken.
I'm sorry about your dog.
Sorry for your loss. I just cant understand a person who could hurt an animal in such a cruel way. Hugs Joyce
My condolences on the loss of your furbaby. This was a quicker way to go then the cancer and maybe she was spared much pain.
Nor do I understand them. I am sorry for your loss./Lillian
So sorry you are going through losing your pet! I love animals, too, and people can be cruel to them. I recently lost my favorite pet, Sam, the tomcat, you see in my avatar. I do not know what happened to him. He was a stray I adopted several years ago, and he appeared sickly and abused, would not let us touch him for several months. Then, he became the best pet ever! I miss him so. You have my sympathy.
Hugs, Angel
I am sorry you lost your pet. Rescued pets are the best animals and I am sure he knew of your love.
Thank you hugs.
Oh, I'm so sorry!! It's hard enough to lose one of our fur babies, but this is just awful. Is it possible to call the police, if you can determine what she was poisoned with? Or maybe that would be emotionally too hard. If it were my kid, my anger would push me thru the emotional part, to see someone be punished for this cruel act, if your police or humane organization would prosecute. I am usually a non-violent person, but anyone who would harm a child or animal deserves to have exactly the same thing done to them as they did to the victim. Zero tolerance for people who hurt defenceless things! Oh, I'm so so sorry for your loss, I've lost too many from natural causes myself. Big hugs, Marji
I knew when I read that you would see it and feel her hurt Marji. Just cannot understand how people do things like that./Lillian
I have filled out the paperwork but sadly too many have access to the field next to our yard. I live on a closed (dead end) street but it is a short cut for many people on foot.
I am so sorry to hear that you have lost a loved animal to people who have no love/kindness/compassion. I know that her footprints on your heart will be there forever more.
Where I live (South Africa) we have had poisoned meat thrown over the wall (6 foot high!!!) fortunately my two small dogs didn't eat enough to kill them.
Dear Rescuer: I know of your pain, I hope your friend and protector did not suffer too long. My dog died a long time ago, and now reading your note, all the sad memories came back to me,but also I have wonderful memories about my Onix. Are you sure somebody killed her? Maybe she ate a toad? I am telling you this, because it will be easy for you, to acept it was nature and not a bad human... creature who took away your dog's life.
The vet said it was fairly quick, only a matter of hours.
Thank you for your words of comfort.
