They just left this morning :-( but we had a wonderful visit - did lots of things, and had some time with each of the grandkids. Cookies disappeared quickly! It is amazing how fast they grow up!
They made it!!! What a wonderful feeling it is having them here. I made Snickerdoodles and they were a hit! And they loved their quilts! Now I need to figure out what to make for breakfast. Adam, 12, is really crafty and wants to make some stuffed origami animals. I have no idea what he means, but we'll have fun figuring it out! Thanks for sharing in my anticipation.
They are just 6 hours away!!! No cookies yet. Maybe I can have them just out of the oven when they get here - so the house smells like cookies! I finished all three rag quilts except for the clipping on the last quilt. My clipping hands are really sore - wish you could all help me snip! Thanks for sharing in my excitement! Hugs, Jan
Jan, the smell of cookies fresh out of the oven is what my granddaughter said she loved about coming to visit me! I will have to share a poem with you that she wrote as a class project, "Granny's House", sometime. Enjoy their stay with you to the fullest!!
Hugs, Angel
Cookies, cookies and more cookies. I can feel your thrill in seeing your family. Have a wonderful time and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Loads of hugs Sarah.
I worked a trade for some embroidery for the Go Karts in town, so we have 25 rides. They are going to love that! Willie is going to take them fishing, and there is a bowling alley, and hiking trails, and the swimming pool. I think they will really like just being here too, and of course there are the 3 cats, 2 parrots and 1 dog to play with too. My daughter is the one who gave us the two parrots, so they will probably remember her! How am I going to sleep tonight????? I have 3 bathrooms to clean, grrrrr, but I already cleaned the fridge, cabinets, floors, and the quilts are nearly finished! OH Happy Day!
I can't tell Ben they are coming until they are just an hour away. He ADORES his sister, and loves the kids - they are really great with him. He is going to be flapping his arms and humming, giggling and calling for them!
When they get to the town 45 minutes away, they will call Ben and ask him what he is doing, and ask if they can come see him. What a surprise this will be. But, it will be hard too.
I can't tell my youngest anything about visitors until I see "the whites of their eyes"
How exciting for you all!
Oh Jan! This is so wonderful! I am so happy for you!! I hope you will enjoy every second of your time together! Get your camera warmed up!! Hugs and Blessings. I will be praying for you to have a wonderful visit!! ro
They are half-way here!! I can't believe this is going to happen! I haven't seen the kids for 3 years and they are growing up! I guess I better make some cookies after all. Should I clean the downstairs shelves, or should I bake cookies.....? I'm going to make one of my daughter's favorites for when they get here - Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits. Maybe I better add some corn on the cob too :-)
They will remember the cookies more than the clean shelves and love Grandma for making them for them.
My kids when they are gone for a while tell me to make them their favorite foods. By the time they unload the car the house doesn't look to tidy. lol Just enjoy having them come and don't sweet the small stuff.
Oh, Jan, I am so very happy for you, knowing the excitement building of seeing them again!! Relax and save your energy to enjoy their visit. My kids and grandkids never seem to pay the least attention to my untidy house! They will love the rag quilts, along with all your hugs! If you do ANY kind of preparation for their visit, just let it be a big plate of homemade cookies!!
Sew for them. It will make the time go quickly and you will enjoy it more. When they arrive tell them you were torn...but decided you would rather sew for them than clean.
If it has to be cleaner and you have some "spare money" hire a maid service. In one hour they can have the bathrooms, kitchen and floors clean. Once in four years...if you have the money it is a nice break and it will let you focus on family.
Understand how you feel," but the house can wait"
Hugs Tanja**
To quote a fridge magnet of mine. "Only dull women have tidy houses" Have fun with your family and enjoy seeing them open their presents
The housework can wait until after they have left and I am sure with extra people in the house it won't take long for it to be a little untidy. Just enjoy your time with them. I used to be a clean house freak until I noticed people weren't coming around as much for fear they would mess it up.
I have never had that problem - LOL Thanks for helping me keep it in focus!
That is wonderful. I can relate to your feelings as I rarely see some of my children as they live so far away. They will not be looking to see if your house is clean and neat. Just relax and enjoy having their company. Remember they are coming to see you and not your house!! Hugs, Mary
I can feel your excitement as i read- have a great time with your family :))))
Hugs
Marie
Have a great time with your family. It will go by so fast.
I'm almost afraid for it to start, as time will fly by when they are here....
Enjoy the occasion and don't worry too much about the housework. Are they staying with you? Jan
They are staying with us, which is like bunking with us as we don't have that many extra beds. Lana and daughter will share a double bed, one boy on the couch and one more on the blow up mattress on the floor, I think.
