I have seen some beautiful organza stitched flowers, which are attached seperately with beading. The organza added sparkle and the flowers were 3d. Nb, the organza fabric is starched with wss dissolved before embroidering.
Congratulations to the Bride!
The Babylock class I attended demonstrated a woolly nylon rolled hemstitch on the tulle edge. It was soft and very pretty. Also, she suggested some of the shiny threads, nut I do not remember what they were, sorry:>) This was very plain. My SIL use a rayon thread, and just rolled the hem on her daughters, it was lovely!!
I stumbled across this tutorial at Embroidery Library for embroidering on tulle, hope it will be of help to you. Hugs, Marji
That tutorial is what got me started with this. I just want it to be perfect for her. Thank you!!!
well I have only made 3 of these & I did all of them directly on the tulle & I did do the tedious border all along the outside edge of both layers (but becasue it is tulle you can trim it after you embroidery on it) sew try to do some practise pcs, it really isn't as hard as it looks. The best of luck to you! I have also used the crocheted style on tulle & it worked out quite lovely too! Hugs Loralye
I agree with linda8450..stitching on tulle and then attaching is going to be too heavy. I think a redwork design or a lightly digitized design which could even include some small satin elements would be better...I'd also stay away from a border...go with individual motifs that you can space yourself. Also consider using a 60wt or 70wt thread to make the design lighter and not quite as "stiff"..you may even be able to go with a 100wt thread and use a size 9/65 needle and the same thread in the bobbin. Would love to see it when it's ready! Good Luck!
Thank you!!! Everyone has had such wonderful ideas and knowledge. My brain is in overload now!! HAHA
Our son was just recently married and I cam across this site with wedding veils. You might get inspired by looking at the pictures.
My new DIL brought two of them because of the high price at the bridal shop and the one she wore she added some lace roses.
Instead of a continuous border (tedious to keep straight and true and match up) I might do a floral or motif design scattered on the veil. Something light and airy, not stitch intensive. Redwork comes to mind. Simple and won't detract from the beautiful bride.
The free standing lace will probably be too heavy. Are you stitching right on the veil or going to stitch on tulle then attach it to the veil?
