Owner of Ruby sewing machine, have you heard an awful banging sound in your machine since you bought it?

I went to see my Viking dealer. She said to contact Viking in your country, if the local dealer will not replace it. New machines should not make that noise and should be replaced. She showed me it is louder than the older Designer but quieter than the Diamond.
Hugs and good luck

Hi Sigrun, I have seen video on facebook, it sounds very strange indeed.
Are you sure it is not the hoop that dances on the lower portion.

I have a Ruby, and I have not this banging sound, but really this machine makes more noise that the designer 1 that I had before. Is your embroidery good nevertheless?
this noise is as if there were knocks on the spool, It has hapenned with mine once because the threads were tangled in the spool

Yes, the Ruby is a very good machine and yes the machine is louder than Designer1, I have that machine too, but what I find strange in this, this sound does not start immediately but after about 8-10 thousand stitches all the time, and that can not be normal.

I am truly sorry for the problems you are having with the Ruby. I have a Bernina and haven't got this problem. Hope they will give you a brand new machine with no banging sounds. Good luck.

I'm going in to pick up my designer 1 from it's annual cleaning today so I'll ask my dealer if she has heard of this problem and maybe a fix. Let's hope I remember.........

I purchased my Ruby about 1 1/2 years ago and shortly after I began using it noticed a banging sound, especially after using it a long time. Took it in for repairs and the tech said it was normal and probably due to the density of the design and the thichkness of the fabric. Strangely enough (knock on wood) I have not had the problem lately.
Hope you get this resolved,
Hugs
Michelle

It does not matter whether I am embroidering on thin or thick fabric

I surely hope the dealer can do something for you! This is very bad advertising for Viking!! Hopefully they will realise this! I have noticed their machines are not what they used to be. All are made in the far East now, except MAYBE the Diamond is still made in Sweden, not sure. Please let us know if they fix or replace it!

i don't have a ruby, but sometimes when my machine is embroidering heavy fabric or stitches really fast it makes a terrible sound. my daughter figured out it was the hoop bumping the machine.

Lynn, if it's still doing the same thing, then they shouldn't charge to service it again, obviously wasn't done right the first time. Take it back as quickly as you can, before they say it's been too long & something else is wrong now.

I know this, I've been 3 times with Ruby for repair since I got her, all about this banging sounds

That doesn't sound normal. I would insist that they fix it get a new one. I do believe the Ruby runs a bit louder than the other machines. However, not as you describe.

Sigrun, so sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your new machine. I can't imagine what that noise is - might it need oiling in the embroidery arm?

The comsumer is not suppose to oil the viking machine.

sigrun by sigrun 18 Jul 2012

No not oil - the Husqvarna machine don´t needs oil - I´m trying to upload an video to my Embroidery site, then you can listen to this banging sounds.

shirlener88 by shirlener88 19 Jul 2012

I got the link - that does sound awful.

sigrun by sigrun 19 Jul 2012

Yes it does

Sorry, Sigrun, sounds like your Ruby should have been named Lemon. I sure hope you can get this taken care of, or get a different machine. For the prices they charge for the machines, this shouldn't happen, or else be quickly and permanently fixed up for you. Hugs, Marji

I've been having problems with my Ruby machine out of this banging sounds and repair man claims to have repaired the machine as he was advised from Sweden, but the sounds banging in the machine is still there, now I will just return the machine and get a new one, even the latest Pfaff machine maybe. I know of one who has got a new one instead of the machine she had that was having this banging sounds.

Fortunately I haven't. It is a bit louder than my Designer1 was, especially when stitching on water soluble stabiliser, but I think that has to do with the thickness (or rather thinness) of the stuff.
What bothers me a bit is that it's rather hard to push the hoop in its place.

mops by mops 18 Jul 2012

push the hoop into the machine, I really need force and not a gentle push.

sigrun by sigrun 18 Jul 2012

I know that the Ruby sews faster than Designer1, but the machine starts very softly for the first 10.000 stitches, then the banging sounds starts and get harder and harder as I sew, it is terrible to hear that - my husband hears very badly, but he hear that sound.

I had problems with my ruby and they gave me a new one,it still makes too much noice and leaves snarls on the back if you leave the thread cutter on. I don't like not having a presure foot lever, the foot control doesn't do it for me .

shirlener88 by shirlener88 18 Jul 2012

this doesn't sound good.
