I didn't know about this. So I am going to find out because the newspaper offices are not far from me. Hope to trace some patterns onto it. Lovely and strong enough to keep for long. Thanks for telling us about it.***
I have been getting mine at our 2 local papers for a long time. Used it to pack up my grandparents glassware first and have gone thru 3 other end rolls since. My main use is to cover the tables when we have 4-H. It saves my furniture and the kids are great about helping to fold up after done and putting it in the newspaper recycle pile!
I think they were happy I took it off their hands. Mine had about 3 inches of paper on the roll. IN diameter, off of the inner roll.
I wonder how big the left over rolls are at the Los Angeles Times and if they'd fit in my car? School supply stores carry plain newsprint too if you are looking for sheets of it.
They charge $2 each for remnants at the local paper here. A deal is a deal! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I always keep some of this on hand. Was great for wrapping crockery when we moved house. Shirley
We used to use it to cover our picnic tables and also to make sewing pattern adjustments.
I had a contact for our area, but he know longer works there. The paper was always great to have for my kids to use for their art work, both at home and in school.

You know, I'll bet that would be good for paper-piecing of quilts. You could cut the squares whatever size you chose. I'm talking about paper-pieced string quilts or crazy quilts, probably the newsprint wouldn't work best in the printer if you had to print templates for the squares. Great to know they give it away, thanks! Hugs, Marji
I always asked and collected end of rolls for the class I was teaching. Lovely for big paintings and yes I still have some and use it often!
