Hi cuties I need help after waiting nearly a month for it to arrive I now have my PE BASIC and have the designs waiting to be transferred to my memory card I have also down loaded Wilcom truesizer

My hoop size is 4"x 4" 100cm x 100cm Embroidery machine Brother 150

1st question? Do I have to format my memory card and if so what format do I need

2nd question? how do I transfer design to the memory card using Wilcom truesizer
and when transferring does it automaticly tell the sewing machine when to change colour or do I have to put that information in myself and the size of the design
I'm itching to see my down loaded designs embroidered but I don't want to damage my new PE BASIC or the memory card
from reading all other post's I know I will get help so thanking you all in advance

Many thanks for all your help I knew you would come up TRUMPS.

It was me al-along I forgot in my excitement that Wilcom only converts the format and resizing.
I was trying to write to the memory card, once I realized you did it in the PE Basic software that I had down loaded from Brother web site all went well. Stupid me I forgot all about the actual program for the PE Basic.
I am blond may be the saying is true, how dumb can one be Just thought I would come and let you all know that I now know what I am doing and I am now ready to sew my designs out which is some lovely Christmas designs for Christmas cards

PED Basic hardware is a fit-in-you-hand size dohickey that you insert the card in, and the other end is a usb connector that goes in the computer.
You need to go to the Brother.com

Pick your operating system-mine is xp professional,
pick language

download the top one, version 1.07.

That will install the software on your computer. And a shortcut on your desktop.

There is another tab to dl the manual, if you misplace yours, and another tab with some troubleshooting info.

To use, click on the shortcut and open the program. You ccan set the hoopsizefor viewing. (If you had a bigger hoop, you can still use this) Right under that is a gold folder. click on that and a browse menu appears in the middle. My choices are card or desktop. If I click on the card, it shows what I have on it. click on desktop, and you can browse to whatever folder you have your designs in. They will show up in the left side screen.

If the design is too big for your hoop, it will be crossed out. To put a design that fits on the card, click on it and on the blue arrow in the middle. It will appear on the right. There is a rectangle on the top the will show you how much room there is left on the card. When done, click on the bottom button on the right. It will tell you all data on the card will be erased or rewritten (can't remember, reader is not attached) And then when it is done, you remove the card and insert it in your machine.
You don't need to have the reader on the machine to use the software to see designs. They just have to be pes (or pen? can't remember-the manual will tell you).
This should get you started, read the manual, from the 4 buttons on the top you can see the stitch count and size, see a preview, or print.

Did it not come as a complete package - reader/writer box, embroidery card, cd with software and user manual (either printed or on the cd)? Mine installed a shortcut which opens the programme, you choose your embroidery folder, select the files you want, transfer them to the window on th right and let the software write it on the card. The size of the design files varies of course and so the number of files the card can hold does as well. Make sure you use the right format and designs of the right size.
You can resize within limits, but cannot reformat.

My simple 190D let me choose if I want to see colours displayed or thumbnails of the part of the design the machine is going to stitch, but even so a print-out of the design is very useful.

Just a few comments, as I am not an expert. Firstly, is your card compatible with PE Basic, hopefully it came with your kit, then there will be no need to format yr card. PE Basic should also come with a programme that reads your PES designs, and from there you should also be able to write to your card. You will not, however, be able to use Wilcom Truesizer to write to your card, but you can use it to view and possibly adjust some designs.
I have the Amazing Box (Bernina - but it is compatible with Brother), as well as PE Design Ver 7.2. The Amazing Box can only load 6 designs on the card, I think you will have the same limit. Also, when I use Amazing Box and card my machine (Brother 270SE)tells me what colour to use on the screen. Unfortunately, when I use my very expensive PE Design Box and card, the only information my machine gives is numbers for colours (which is very annoying). Good luck. I hope someone else will have more information. Enjoy.
