I agree Dolly, her designs are beautiful and many have multiple uses. As has been stated, it really all comes down to the colour of the background material and the colours that you want to use. For example, carrots don't have to be orange unless you are Mrs. P. with her SnowPeople. There are several varieties of entirely different colours. Same with potato's. Anyway Dolly, it sounds like you're going all agricultural on us...lol.
Basketcase's farmer's makert designs are fabulous. I have just finished the "carrot" and the "beet" on white cotton and I am impressed.
Wow, everyone's sure making great use of Vicki's designs! I'm glad you got such a great response, Dolly. You have digitizing software, right? Sometimes when I'm thinking of doing a design on a particular color and wonder how it's going to show up, I set the background hoop color in the software to a similar shade. In Digitizer Pro, there are preselects, as well as the whole range of a zillion colors you can choose from, like when you choose the color of a font in Word. You could get a pretty good idea from that in the 3D or visualizer mode. I find it works pretty well. There are some things I've thought to do that ended up needing dramatic thread color changes to work on the color I wanted, so I did it in the software first. Good luck, and show us how they turn out! Hugs, Marji
& I have done the rippled flowers on a cream background for my sewing pockets, They are fantastic
I recieved a teatowel from my SS here at cute, with the butterfly. A bone color t/towel with browns, Stunning.
I did the veggie ones on canvas bags for my sons' ladies, they loved the bags. I also did the hummingbird with flower on a pink top. On the top my machine was bringing the white thread up from the bobbin so when I was done I used fabric markers and colored in a bit to cover the white, worked well! The bags are somewhere in projects.
Thank you for this week's DBC free design. The vine design is wonderful! I can use it instead of quilting!
I have not, but I have imagined them on different vibrant deep rich colors like magenta, ruby, emerald, etc. I think they will be beautiful with many backgrounds. The deep sea blue color is one I want to try! I think Vicki is right; as long as you make a plan for the colors to show up, they will be gorgeous! And you are right, she IS sooooo generous! Thank you Vicki and Dolly for asking the question!
I've done them on red, pink, blue and they all turn out beautiful, just as any other design would. Normally, you can stitch out a design on any color, it's just the thread that you choose that makes the design.
I found my quilt, it is in projects, please have a look at basketkases ripple flowers!
I did a wallhanging quilt with 16 of her ripple flowers on white and they turned out beautiful. it is in projects somewhere. Love her designs.
It is a wonderful quilt. I enjoy white for my backgrounds and just love the additional color blocks!
Hi, Dolly.....thank you so much for the kind words. The ripple designs can be used on any color fabric as long as you use threads that will stand out...and of course use your topping on the towels, the designs with the denser ripples will show more on the towels as you know those nappies try to poke through the topping as well......but definately experiment, I have stitched my designs on fleece as well with a topping underneath with great results, and with mylar they are spectacular.....Vicki
Thank you Vicki, I LOVE the Farmers market and think they would make great additions to kitchen towels! I shall definately have to experiment but will show in Projects when I have made some.
