I have used it for years for all purposes,Have a husqvarna SE and no problem what so ever.

Thank you! I just ordered about $20 worth because its $0.60 a spool right now, I have a Designer 1 so I hope it works as well for me, I'll let y'all know when it comes in!
ThreaDelight is owned by Anna Bove Designs. You can purchase it at ABC Embroidery or at AnnaBoveDesigns. The top of the spool has an orange lock to hold the thread. I have not tried this thread but I have several of Anna Bove's designs and they stitch our beautifully. She is a master digitizer. No overstitching or jump threads with her designs. If her thread is anything like her designs it must be amazing!
I have 240 colors of Metro Thread Rayon 40wt. It is a tad prone to breaking at high speeds. I recently purchased 6 cones of Metro's polyester thread line and it is great!! not breaking and the sheen is lovely. Floriani is excellent thread but it is pricey. Robinson Anton is great thread as well. Have fun stitching!
anabove also does business as ABC. They sell discount thread collections on ebay too. I bought 100 spools on ebay from them, less than on their website. Works great. Beautiful thread. However, you need thread nets or to put the plastic back on the spool to store it.
I bought a 100 spool set several years ago and it sews great for both fill embroidery and lace. I have a brother 4000 and a Janome 10001 and they both like it just fine.
Only thing is I use a thread stand as neither machine likes cones on their horizontal spoolpins.
Thank you! I love finding new thread colors and if it works for lace too...even better!
I have the full Metro line in the mini king spools and several of the large spools. My Pfaff machines have no trouble with any color. The spool has a split bottom to lock threads in place with no tangling when stored. I also use there cardboard side bobbins with no difficulty. The prices are fantastic compared to so many other brands. Have never used the ThreaDelight, and didn't know it was associated with Metro. There are 66 fewer colors and the thread is on a different spool, similar to Coats & Clark, which does not work at securing the thread ends when storing.
Metro and ThreaDelight compete and are not associated with each other. It is nice to be able to compair the two though.
My machine will not use Coats & Clark. It always breaks or makes rats nests in the bobin area. I didn't know Coats & Clark had spool tops, I thought they were just open top.
I am learning a lot with these answers!
I'm sorry I have not heard of this brand,so can't help.
Does anyone know if the ThreaDelight (or Metro) thread cap at the top effectively hold the thread ends to store? Or do you need a thread net or something like Amazing Tape to keep the spools from unwinding?
I read on another post a while back that the cap worked on Metro for one Cutie. Others were using thread nets or the tape. I would love to know about both types as I like that feature and I hope it works well.
Metro has the snap lock bottoms to hold the thread, like the Robison Anton spools. I was surprised, for the price.
drro and I were looking at the variegated threads last night and were trying to compare the "ThreadDelight" as found on abcembroidery vs the metro variegated vs threadart variegated. I was looking at the RA variegated but the prices are higher and the color variety isn't as great.
We both have brother machines and are wondering if anyone has had experience with either (or both) of these threads.
Thanks for any help.
I am hoping someone answers your question since it will be a few weeks before I can order any.
I have never heard of thread delight. I have used Metro variegated thread. I have a Brother PR 600 and it is usable but the speed and tension have to be watched carefully. My Singer futura does not have a problem with Metro.
Definitely try a spool or two from wherever you are considering a big buy. I did that with Metro. I own all 166 colors now and am waiting for a few things to come back in stock so I can refill my low ones again. Both of my brothers love Metro. I also like Floriani (that I get locally) but it is quite a bit more than Metro - even with shipping factored in. I too use their prewounds - plastic sided (and my machine does not tell the difference between them and NEBS).
I'd order a spool of the ThreaDelight brand and a spool of Metro...and see how they sew. Then you would know for sure which is best. You get a much better deal with Metro 166 spools for $114.00 and they have sales all the time. I've used their thread with no problem, also have used their pre-wound bobbins.
Muffy :)
Thank you Muffy. The 166 spools looks like a great deal!
Perhaps I will order a black spool of each since that is the color of thread that seems weakest to me.
I have used it for years with no problem.
I have a Husquarna SE
What kind of machine do you have? Some are pickier than others, perhaps others with the same machine could give you better advice. My Janome 300E will use just about anything with no problem, I don't have to adjust tension, anything. The Metro threads have lots of nice colors, too, and quite a nice shine. They're inexpensive, even if they're not on sale, and there's no minimum order. My Janome doesn't seem to have a problem with them. The only thing it hates is Floriani, a really beautiful, expensive thread! So many people had problems with that shredding, my Janome dealer isn't going to carry it any more. Good luck with your search! Hugs, Marji
I am hoping to get threads that my Singer Futura will use. It has problems with some of the Sulky dark threads. I have to babysit it like I would with metalic threads.
I hope to get a new Babylock or Viking machine soon...
Thank you for the link too. I like the colors!
Do you use their variegated threads?
I rarely use variegated thread, because I do a lot of realistic animal designs, but I've heard a lot of other Cuties use it. Dark thread causes most problems b/c it's overdyed, messed up other colors get dyed black, weakens thread.
Thank you for all your help!
Very good information on the reason for black thread being weak.
Hugs
I'm hoping to find more Cuties who have used this thread without problems. The sale on thread is great, I just don't have the money to spend $100+ on thread my picky machine won't use.
ttt
I'm new at this, so don't have a lot of experience, but it worked fine for me. I ordered it from ABC as it was cheaper than anything I could get here in Canada.
Hope that helps. :)
Thank you for your reply. I value your experience. I'm glad they worked for you. I hope they have worked for others too.
I just worry a lot about thread breakage. My machine can get picky about threads.
They have some good sales right now. abc-machine-embroidery
I like their designs, I just have never tried the thread...but the colors are so pretty. I am as naughty buying thread as I am with buying fabric.
lol
I have never heard of this brand...where do you get it?
