I'm glad you liked it.I was thinking while I watched that maybe it was a little too British and that an explanation might have been needed but it seems to have gone down well. Jan
It was British, but they are the hosts and time to celebrate their history! I learned so much. I loved the kids in their hospital beds! Wow! And Mary Poppins! Wasn't it all so fantastic!
You know that that's where I'm from, don't you? I'm actually from Liverpool and I meant 'just in case' other nationalities found it too British, not me.. It was pure theatre. Jan
I think it was the finest opening ceremonies I've ever seen, what they did with the lighting of the cauldron, all those petals lighting each other, then rising up into one....if only all people, all nations could act like that, illuminating each other, and becoming one flame, unity in diversity....aaaaagggghhh, it was just so symbolic. When I was a kid listening to the Beatles, first I never thought I'd live to see 2012, because I'd be so oooolllldddd; but who would have thought McCartney would be singing Hey Jude to open the Olympics, wow. I can't imagine the work it took to get all that together, the performances, the fireworks, the lights, the music; the technical production was amazing, too.
You could tell the whole production was touching to the people who were performing it too. Amazing that it was a once in a lifetime event - performed just once for the world!
It was amazing Jan. I just loved it all especially the Olympic rings being forged. I stayed up for hours to watch the road cycling race, but in the end had to go to bed and just found out that a Kazakhstan won the race. And our girls won in the relay in swimming. It's good to see the spirit of the games alive and well. Love Chris
IT looked like they were really being forged! The whole production was such a positive, uniting experience - a true celebration we can all share!
