HELP Brother innov-is750E I have just been reading the on line manual for this machine while waiting for it to arrive,

Before embroidering a design built in or a down loaded design do you have to program in what colours to use and make of thread and how many colours in a design you are using?
the following is copied from the manual

Current color step/Number of colors in design
c Current name of color
d Current color part
e Next color part

The manual has a page naming two or three brands of named thread and the colour number

Or is it the same as my Brother PE 150
You just choose your design and it just shows what colour you can use?

I have the same machine but never read the manual *lol*
The display shows you the actual color and you see which part comes next. Have to admit that I cannot recognize much on this display so I have the design on the screen of my mac while I'm stitching. Like pcteddyb I always choose my own colors and don't mind on the name on the display (often enough there is white-linen and I take skin-color). On the pic you see the display of the brother on the left and the one from the janome on the right (same design on both!).
Greetings, Bettina

Hi maisiebo

I have an older machine - the ultimate 2001 - and DIL the brother 350E. for both machines, I put the card into the slot (you will probably have a usb slot--lucky you!) and choose the icon for embroidery.

no You do not have to program anything. I have to click the icon when i am going to embroider as mine are both sewing/embroider combos.

When I use the ult or my DIL's machine, I can choose whether I want to:
change the thread being used from either a name or a number. It gives me the option of choosing Brother Embroidery, Brother Country, or something else, but that one just slipped my mind... lol.. anyway, either of these choices will change the color of your design showing up, so i go by the designers color chart. I have a few other changes I can make, such as if I want the needle up or down, change my speed, the upper tension, etc.

Once in a while I will change the factory settings to something else, but not very often. To change them back, you just click the default and everything will revert.

Your new machine will tell you how many stitches are in the design, and how long it will take to complete.
How many colors of thread, and the color order.

I am not familiar with your older Brother machine, but I don't think it has the option to change anything like your new one will....

I hope I haven't confused you, I am still on my first cup of coffee..
Congrats on the new one.... and happy sewing.

I usually bring up the design and if I do not like there color selection, I change to whatever makes more sense to me, or in the case of flowers, I make them to my liking... I have a Brother 780D and a Innovis 4000
d.. Do whatever your heart desires, and you will have a lots of fun with it

The machine will show whatever colors are in the design file - most of the time I find they are not right. This happens because of how the different digitizing software works with different machines. I always use a printout of the design to select my colors and then then follow along with the color changes (not the colors shown). You can use whatever color for whatever part of any design - the choice is yours!

The same as I do on my Brother PE150 the way the manual reads it sounds like you had to program your colours in if you know what I mean
