Well cuties now that I have this wonderful thread wall rack (thanks to everyone for your comments and yes I know how truly lucky I am and no my hubby cannot be shared) I went to Metro thread to see there sale so that I can fill this baby up LOL. Have any Canadian cuties ordered from them and if so, do you not find the shipping cost way to high.

Shipping on a $161.00 order would be $76.00.
Is it just me or is that the norm. When I compare this to say Connecting threads (I just ordered from them and shipping was $8.00) I am thinking something isn't right.
Help anyone?
hugs
Michelle

I found some Canadian Sites too, got to thinking I should buy here instead of the States. Have a look.

Michelle send them a e-mail and have them verify about the shipping charge. This really seems excessive.

I ordered from Metro, but I have a cousin who lives in Arizona and had it sent to her and then she sent it to me.
There are some canadian places, but you'd have to check and compare.
See how much the final price would come to for a cone - total of order + shipping and divide by nbr. of cones. That will give you a good idea if it's worth it.

I have always ordered my threads, etc., from NotJustThreads with amazing, friendly, efficient service and excellent prices. Their thread is excellent quality.
I like to encourage our Canadian fellow embroiderers :)

Just checked them out but they are more expensive than what I pay through my supplier
here in Quebec.
www.superpunch.com for any Canadian cuties
interested, lg bobbins 5.99 and sm. 1.99. I can tell you that their thread is excellent and I know a few ladies who use it and are very pleased with it as well. They also have super great prices on stabilizers. Worth a look.
thanks and hugs

I ordered from Metro, had it sent to my sis inlaws, she lives on the US side and we are 5 minutes from the border on Canadian soil, I find the shipping outrageous to enter Canada, so I always ship to her addy and she brings to me...

If you live close to the States and know someone to send packages to or a broker then you can pick it up at the US. Some brokers will charge a fee and some Post offices also do this service.

Good luck

By the way, in case you don't go back to the original post about your thread rack: someone commented on that nice, bright window. You'll need to protect those threads from direct sunlight. Maybe you already know this, but if you're getting several hundred dollars worth of thread, make sure you don't have sun-fade and drying out. If thread gets dry like that in the sun, it becomes brittle and you'll get shredding enough to tear your hair out. Hate to see you waste money, you probably already know this, but make sure it doesn't get direct sunlight. My thread racks are on the same wall as the window, so the sun can't hit them. Mostly because I'm too lazy to make some kind of cover. Just protect that investment, hugs, Marji

They're in the USA. You're in Canada. Shipping from USA to Canada can be downright stupid. Apparently they get Eskimos with dogsleds to get it across the border or something. I'm in the USA, probably further from Metro than you are, and I only paid $10 shipping. International postage rates on those flat rate boxes can be prohibitive. Ran into this trying to ship to Australia, too, but that is more understandable, it's a big big ocean to cross. Canada, I just don't get. Designs by Sick is Canadian, and they have thread sets, shipped from the Canada warehouse. Might want to check them out. They have a US warehouse for USA orders, so we don't run into the shipping thing in reverse. Have any friends near the border in USA? Have it shipped to them and have them bring it when they come visit. Oh, yeah, now we need passports to do that. Live not far from Niagara Falls, but can't go across the bridge any more without renewing my $100 passport. Sigh, the world is becoming sillier & sillier, & more expensive. Try SICK, best of luck, hugs, Marji

I wouldn't order from them! I'd be finding another place like where you just ordered from. Sounds to me like they are trying to rip you off. no way! This is most unreasonable! Roberta

I think that is excessive, When I have tried to order from U.S. I found it prohibitive.

Wow that does seam way to high. However, I don't have much experience with ordering thread on-line. Might send them an email and ask. it will be interesting to see what other cuties have to say.
