NOT EMBROIDERY RELATED

I just want to share something amazing with you
we have freecycle over here in the uk thats a bit like craigs list.
my daughter needed a wardrobe haveing had to sell her Victorian one to get money to pay a big urgent bill.
So, when i spotted a wardrobe on freecycle i decided to ask for it . collection by sunday or it goes to the tip.
Fine, i went to collect it on saturday and got it loaded into the back of our old nissen. i told the man that my daughter loved old furniture and he asked if she would be interested in a table and chairs
yep she would be so a table and four chairs were added to the back of the car.
In the same room were two more pieces of matching furniture, a side board and drinks cabinet. Do you think she would like those too. I told him i would ask her,
It was not till we took them out the car at daughters that i noticed a small oval ivory coloured losenge under the immaculate table that i realised what i had.
Wardobe is a vintage Stag, the tabble and chairs are vintage Robin Day.
I have just rung the man to ask when i can pick up the other two bits of furniture and will get them tomorrow evening.
he told me they were going to go to the tip today but he will hold them for me to collect
I know he has his own firm and drives a big car so perhaps he just isn't interested in these.
why am i telling you this?
I am a big believer that if you help others that in your time of need it will come back to you
i have just seen a Robin day side board the same that i am to collect up for sale in a designer shop for
£850.00 that will be a lead as to the cost of the other items and there is a set of the table and chairs in the V&A museum in LOndon. my skin is still tingling. the Gods are good. annie

Good for you and your daughter. Enjoy the experience and don't get carried away or you won't have time to sew, you'll be scouring the country in your camper for more bargains. ( Not a bad life!) Jan

Goodness me!! You have been very fortunate to get these lovely items. What a pity to sell them - they could become heirlooms.****

Wow, Annie, that's just wonderful! We have freecycle here in the USA as well, but I don't know of anyone that ever made as good a deal as you did, congratulations. So nice to have something be used & appreciated, instead of being thrown out. And sometimes we do get a lucky break, you and your daughter sure did. Enjoy! Hugs, Marji

wow!!! make photos so we all can see. We have a TV called Antique Roadshow that I love to watch. They travel all over the country and people bring in their old items to be evaluated and sometimes they are worth nothing and sometimes worth a fortune. Wish I could find something worth a fortune!!! So happy for your daughter. Kay

Wow! Great. And it's so good someone got them that will enjoy them rather than them just being thrown out!! (assuming that's what the tip is? If so, that sounds so much nicer than our dump!)

Wonderful Annie, I have just taken lots of bits to the hospice charity shop and that makes me feel good too. Someone els can enjoy and some money will go for the hospice care.
I expect the man is absolutely thrilled to have given them to you. It is special to know that your old treasures are being enjoyed by someone who appreciates it.

Wow, you really got lucky! We do have freecycle here in the states, I got rid of a lot of stuff over the last few years and picked up a couple too, like a small fridge for the garage to keep our bottled water cold when outside. Not nearly as nice as what you got but still, an item wanted, gotten for free!

Annie, what a wonderful thing to happen. I just love stories like this. A couple of years ago my daughter's MIL bought a rather garish bracelet at a WI charity shop. She cleaned it up and realised that it was gold - took it to her local jewelers and found out she had a gold bracelet studded with large emeralds and diamonds. It is amazing what turns up. Well done.
Sarah.
