It's official! I am definitely entitled to be a member of S.A.D.D. I now have 5,000 designs & only started collecting in Jan 2008! I think it's time to stop collecting & start stitching. SADD Meg

Thanks for all your comments, i really enjoyed reading them all even though I may not answer each one individually. I spent 36 hours in two shifts, re-formatting (in bulk thanks to Embird), re-organising & moving designs, ended up spending most of today in bed with a migraine and still have 7 full collections to go, and was still checking for freebies. AAAAAARGH!!!! That's it! It's enough to convince me they are officially dominating me & it's time to stop! from now on I'm going to be more selective & only collect "Must Haves" from Cute & Sick. Now where was that site with the cross stitch designs....... ROFLMBO! hugs n roses to all, M

meganne, I'm right behind you! I started collecting in Dec. 2007, and I can't seem to stop!
If my DH knew that SADD existed, he probably would never have bought me my machine.

well ladies I also have a downloading monkey on my back, but starting to actually stitch some out and poof some of my magic is gone. So far 2 sets from Tommy=freeset don't stitch out. Tried everything double stablizer, heavier fabric. Wasted a lot of thread, time and stablizer but have to just delete these files. Kinda like sending your kids off on their own. (sigh) oh well I still have lots of others to play with, thank goodness all my 'sick' designs stitch out perfect.

I think it pays to do a virtual stitch out before actually wasting valuable thread & materials on some freebies. Personal opinion: sadly, most Tommy free sets aren't worth keeping. hugs n roses, m

Minnie, I also LOVE to collect thread!!! It is just so beautiful - all those lovely colors lined up. I just do not have any more room for spools, but the designs just keep filling my computer. Have no idea how many designs, but it takes over 1 1/2 hour to move them to my "memory stick". Oh well, at least I am in GOOD company!! *4U Sue

I agree I am a charter member of S.A.D.D. but I look
at it as they are ready when I need them. Hint whem I DL I rename them so I can find them. like Baby then the name ,Flowers then name etc. This helps me to find them. Meg a flower for you.

Even Catalogue Express can't keep up with my collection. The biggest problem is finding the one you are sure you have but can't seem to find it when you want it....LOL *4U

Sqdancer, Like nglover I also rename my designs when I download them like, "Baby then the name bycuteemb.pes" (by adding the name of the location I can always know where it came from) then I put the unzipped, after I rename it, into my "BABY" file. I have different files like angels - baby - birds - flowers - Christmas - Fonts - etc. This has worked really well for me. Good Luck and Good Stitching. *4U Sue

My problem too. But I'm not counting! I just see the files grow and grow. Can have 20 GB before I dtart throwing never used ones out. And then I have to look first, because maybe in there might be the design of the century.. *4U

I just did a count and got over double that! Scary really - i could never stitch them all out - and half the time it takes me ages to find something to suit what I am doing - or off I go to find something new for a project!!

Well I'm a member for sure - he he he - you must at least stop and stitch - or better still do what I do - stitch and search at the same time. At least u feel like you have achieved something doing it this way. Called multitasking hehe! * 4 u

Seriously Addicted to Downloading Designs

jpetersen by jpetersen 20 May 2008

My family comment that I have an addiction to designs allllll the time!, as I haven't watched TV in 6months, just searching for that perfect embroidery which by the way I probably could have digitised by now, LOL not as much fun as freebee searching, Julie in Aus

Meg, I think that is what my problem is. I think I have to keep collecting and not taking the time to do the stitching. lol, I'm right in the same boat but I don't think I have reached 5000 yet, since I just joined in March, but I am close behind you. You mean you counted all of those..????? *4U

Well, you see I have a potential problem with my laptop so I've decided I must stop collecting and catch up with the converting So I'm doing a big cleanup, converting designs to my machine's format then moving all the designs I've already converted to a single Folder ready to move to Disk, so I only counted the ones I've already converted. I still have another 150+ folders to go through. It would be so much easier if I could download designs already in EMD format. No wonder i never get time to sew! LOL! hugs n roses, M

jasanne by jasanne 20 May 2008

Can your software 'batch convert' that is a folder at a time? It makes it much easier.
