Hoping to buy an Husquvarna embroidery cum sewing machine but the rates are so beyond. Is it ok to buy second hand like from Ebay or if some one sells on the net.I am on the look out for a Topaz 30, Ruby or Diamond. Waiting for all your opinion.

I've bought several machines on E-bay and have been very happy with them. Just be very careful, there are rip offs on ebay also. If the seller wants to you contact them thru a non-ebay email or the deal sounds to good to be true, its probably a scam. I always use paypal to pay for bigger items, you have much more protection if something is wrong with the deal or the machine.

Dealers often have machines that have been traded in for the latest model. These machines usually come with a few months warranty form the dealer who should have serviced it before selling it.Also these new machines evidently have a stitch counter in them (like a car has a mileage counter) so they can tell how the machine has been used.I have a diamond

Personally, I think you would be happier with a Ruby or better. You will have a much better/friendly view screen. I traded up from the Ruby to the Diamond when they had special sales due to the Deluxe model coming out. What I like most is the USB connection on those models. I connect directly to my computer and access my designs, without the memory stick! I believe they are having special sales now through the end of the month. I like dealing with a dealer because of warranty and service.

They are pricy, but right now Viking is offering special deals - and willing to work with you. But most Viking centers also have "gently" used machines for sale. I just picked up the Diamond Deluxe, but still have it in the box. I actually sewed on all 3 of those machines not too long ago, and decided to get the Diamond Deluxe. Good luck in your shopping. I know that the center I go to just sold a used SE for around $2500 - well below what it originally went for.

I have had several Vikings & still have an SE & a Diamond. Only thing about some of them is they will only take 1 format; Diamond will take almost all of them. If you have a program to convert files you already have, that's great. There are some free convert programs. As for getting it on Ebay...I would price it & talk to my dealer. Often a dealer will not want to service your machine unless you got it from them!!

I have a HUS Designer SE and I love love love it! Did I say I love it? Yes, they are very spendy but can be used to market your creations if you are interested and have the extra time in your life. I bought it because I have had 4 brain surgeries and I have memory issues and this program does all the calculations to shrink or enlarge the different programs. It has a huge stitching hoop down to a teeny tiny mini hoop and there is also an endless hoop that is also available. It is easy to use and very versatile. You can set up a program and start it stitching out a color and then I turn my chair to my serger or my other work horse sewing machine and continue sewing. One VERY BIG caution though is you should check with a dealer about what must be included to not void a warranty or to make sure it is not stolen property. I have been told to not ever loose my dongle. If it gets broken I am suppose to pick up the pieces I can find. I guess to prove that I did have one. Anyway since you are looking at othe Husqvarnas I am not sure if they too have some built in security so it would be worth a check if you have not already done so.

The dongle is only for the Husqvarne software and not the machine and yes you need to look after it.

I bought my first embroidery machine on ebay. I did not even have a clue as to how to use it!! It was a Janome 10000 and I got a really good deal on it. I am still using it. Like everybody says check the sellers feedback and make sure they take pay pal. Good luck to you Hugs, Mary

I think I would first check with your local dealer and tell them your budget and see if they will work with you as many of them have good used machines and they usually offer at least a month or so guarantee and sometimes even basic classes to get you started--who knows, after a few years you may be able to upgrade and they if you were happy, they would naturally be the first place you would go.
ps-I have Hus Designer SE and love it.

Yes look at rating of the seller. Even better if you can go and collect, pay cash and have the machine demonstrated to you. Good luck

If you do buy/sell make sure you check the feedback of seller. I have sold /bought for over 10 years, but while I do NOT accept returns(unless I made a mistake on ad)all my items are backed 100% by Ebay and Paypal. I have never had 1 item returned.I bought my babylock Ellisimo and a Babylock sahiko and a babylock serger on Ebay. No problems at all.
