Hi Cuties, had my day out at N.E.C.Show.loved it,but I am suffering today, fabric was around £18 per 1m I thought to expensive and think they will price themselves out of the market if it continues to rise I do know that cotton has had hard times in the last few years,But can we really afford to pay such high prices for our Hobbies. Not much for Embroidery Machine witch is always disappointing .but lovely to see other peoples work.

Just google the Leicester Fabric Guild. There you will find a map and the address. They had a sale this weekend.

I agree. Some of the quilt store good cotton fabrics are up to $12-14 a yard here too. When people reach their "Kind if the demand curve" they will just stop buying. But, the big fabric producers are still spitting out new designs every season and we just keep buying.

I am finding I buy more exactly what I need instead of buying extra.

berny by berny 19 Aug 2012

I think I will have to do that also.

I also find it hard to buy at this expensive price.
I have been turning each piece that I have in my stash trying to make them do, but sometimes I don't have the colour that I need.
I now go with a list of what is needed for the current project else I come home with extra that I no longer can afford.
I am also a recycler as it is.
Happy Stitching.
Hugs Bev

No matter how much you have in your stash its either wrong colour or not enough yardage.

That is indeed extremely expensive. Seems to be around 10-11 pounds here in the south and find that expensive enough.
Unfortunately no markets here with cheaper either.
Glad you had a nice day, hope it is not too hot today for all there.

Leeds market is brilliant. I have bought yards and yards of fabric there in my youth and always love to visit when there which is not too often these days

Good to hear you have enjoyed it. I am going tomorrow with Lizell but we will definitely not be buying material. We went to Leicester last week and bought material at really bargain prices.

I always thought that since cotton is renewable that we would not come to this point. China would like to buy back all the apparel made with 100% cotton so they can recycle it and sell it to us again. Nancy Zeiman has recycled cotton utility clothes. Now is the time to conserve and recycle.

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself. I have been for the past 2 years but have given it a miss this year. I think there are bargains for fabric but one has to look. I was amazed at the amount of people who had flown in to the show last year, maybe our fabric is cheaper than European prices, I dont know

Lots have flown in this year also from every where,Don't think they buy fabric but other sundries I think many enter there work so come to see all the other items entered and who won.

I was in the UK earlier in the year and so looking forward to buying some material. I was shocked to see the price of just ordinary cottons. I bought loads of buttons (also expensive) but no material. :((
