I just spend two wonderful days at the Quilt Festival in Birmingham and had a difficult time in choosing fabric at the very reasonable prices of £6 to £9 per meter!!! Here and there you could even find some at £5 per meter. Just a pity I couldn't go on a shopping spree(poor exchange rate) Lizell and I would like to go to a Quilt Festival in America next year.

Guess I won't complain about the prices here! Fabriclands reg. price is on avg. about $14 - $20/meter. I only buy on 1/2 price sale. They always have something on sale and since right now I don't really NEED any, I wait and when I can get it cheap, then I buy and add to my stash(with the thoughtful help from my hubby - suprise!).
Glad you enjoyed the festival.

Was already surprised to read 18.00 pounds a meter in a previous report. This is much better lol. Glad you had a super time.

To be honest we were looking for the "over priced" material but could not find any. As I said to Chris - very good prices but one just cant buy and buy. Wonderful experience though, specially the stand of a lady from New Zealand - kids quilts.

That price is so cheap! Over here in Australia most well known Patchwork fabrics are around $20.00 or more. Most of the ones I've bought have cost me $21.95 or more. I got some on sale at a shop over in Boolaroo on Friday as they had a 30% sale and I only paid just over $15.00 for it. Of course I couldn't just buy one bit, I got a few and spent a fortune once again. Poor Trevor!!!!! Love Chris

Glad you got a bargain. Expensive hobby. Enjoy the material. We met a very nice lady from New Zealand - Kids Quilts.

Hello Martie, glad you had a good time, see you back in SA one of these days. Even with our exchange rate the prices sound good. Hugs, Sheila

Carolyn just go to: www.xe.com where you can convert to and from any currency. I just know some of my South African friends would have had a ball at this Festival.

If I remember correctly E6 (sorry, don't have the right sign) would be like $12 Cdn.

I just had a look on the site Marthie gave and 6pounds in British money is equivalent to 9.31480 Canadian dollars! It's a bit cheaper here in Aus at the moment due to the dollar being high! Love Chris

Even with our bad exchange rate, still very good prices and that was actually all over at 95% of the stalls.
