Chris's Quilt for Edith - on her first day at College!

This quilt has quite a story! When Chris Pennifold, from Australia, heard we were going to try to send quilts to the older orphan/students in Uganda, as well as the little ones, she immediately wrote to me that she had the perfect quilt! She had made this incredible quilt out of fabrics from New Zealand, and had never quite finished it : The colors just didn't work in her home. Can you believe Chris quickly mailed this incredible quilt to me in Colorado, USA? My friend Martha (who had already made 3 quilts) and I stretched it out on my deck, put the backing on and binding, just in time for it to travel to Uganda with Pavel in May! Doesn't it look fantastic with the beaming Edith posed on top? I'd say the colors work perfectly at a small college dorm in Uganda, Chris! Edith, like so many other young ladies around the world, has something very special for her new dorm room. What a boost this must be for her self confidence in her new experience! Thank you, Chris. God Bless You! God works amazing little miracles every day, doesn't He!!!

What a great picture-Thanks Jan!
I'm so glad this young lady has the opportunity to go to college and the quilt is a lovely touch in her room. It was a great experience being a non quilter and learning how to make a basic one for the Uganda project. I loved the video and seeing all
those smiling faces was indeed wonderful.

Oh Chris, Isn't it just wonderful!! It is a beautiful quilt, it could win in a contest, easily it is so well made. I still can't believe you not only paid the postage to mail one more package - but that you gave this to her. I don't think anyone else would appreciate it any more!

hightechgrammy by hightechgrammy 22 Aug 2012

in the whole world would appreciate it more. It's going to be exciting to see what Edith does with her life! God Bless Edith and God bless you too, Chris!

You're making me blush! Love Chris

hightechgrammy by hightechgrammy 23 Aug 2012

Is chuffed the same as blush? I've never heard of chuffed before!

pennifold by pennifold 23 Aug 2012

No - it means that I'm pleased, delighted, stoked. As taken from Strine and Australian Slang. Or another saying "As happy as Larry" don't know where that one comes from though! Love Chris

Almost asked what chuffed meant Chris glad someone else wondered too. Now we know what it is to be chuffed...Hugs Glenda x0x0x0

How fortunate are we ladies of the Cute Family to be part of this wonderfull world that we live in...maybe that doesn't sound right for what I am feeling , but boy I sure feel great (even with the tears in my eyes) knowing that we have made a difference in so many lives by just sewing up a quilt or two....thank you Chris for making this young lady such a happy person and to you Jan for all the work you put into this project...Hugs and much love to all...Glenda x0x0x0

Andrea is in Uganda now, and she just sent this picture. I HAD to share it on Cuties! So many Cuties helped with this project, made quilts, sent fabric, sent postage, and sent money for shipping and extra baggage charges! You are ALL incredible - and I appreciate you so very, very much! You can really tell that we made a small difference in Edith's life, maybe larger than we can ever know. Just think too - there are 102 other quilts blessing the lives of these children! Thank you for all your prayers - It's amazing how smoothly this all went! Hugs, Jan
