They are thin! I ended up embroidering on one and then backed with a second one and serged all around. For some, I embroidered on one and then put right sides together with flannel and rounded corners and sewed all around with an opening for turning and then top-stitched. These were for my daughter and they've made it through many washings...
They are very cute; great job! The thicker ones that I found were at Target in a package of 6. the larger package of 10 were the thin ones.
You can find the good ones at Target. But they are not 12. I believe they are 6 now.You used to get a dozen for $16.99 but not now. They are Birdseye diapers and the quality you want. I used to use them a lot till Target quit carrying them but now they have less. But I will settle for that. Roberta
yes things are getting more costly and thinner fabrics being used ??hugs
Gerber diapers used to be sold in packages of 12, but have reduced that to 10 for the same price. I think the quality of the diapers depends on where you buy them. I had some from Walmart that pilled up alot in the wash, but the ones I ordered from Amazon didn't pill as much.
I recently ran out of my Amazon diapers and bought a package from Walmart, I hope they do ok!
Many young mothers these days are returning to cloth diapers for their babies. They are better for the environment.
I just use flannel.. Make it the size you want and the length..
Quality on everything is going down the drain since China got hold of the worlds manufacturing. We are having the same trouble here in Australia. Joyce
Here are just 4 of the MANY burp cloths I made using Gerber diapers ....
Thanks, you have given me some ideas. I've never made any before but will give it a try.
They look great!
I have a new great GS arriving Dec. 31! So will have to see if I can find time to do a few of these.
Gerber Products is now owned by Nestle ... I, about 20 months ago bought Gerber diapers from the co store and made burp cloths for our first Grandchild ... they were fine and I had very good results I backed them in flannel to cover the embroidery and it worked great, and they washed up very nicely. Jo
I too have bought Gerber diapers ... but.. from Walmart and I had no issues with them..
I got these at walmart,I just expected them to be a bit thicker.they will still work for my project.
So sad, how do the moms cope?
I remember when the packs were in sixes.
I only buy the "glodinia black label" which are still lovely and thick.
I do designs and names and crochet around the whole diaper. It is a pity to cut them up.
I wonder how many are using 'real' cloth nappies these days. If they're so thin, they probably just use more at once.
I meant with the thinness, and the expense of quality ones. Our packs are now 4 and pricey still.
