I for one am a "Fabric Decorator"....I have fabric to adorn my walls...I create alot of mess with fabric scraps...I decorate fabric with threads of every color...I chop, blend, mix, wash, iron, hang and send it everywhere...so that is the title for me...hehehehe...
Some of us might be called embroidery addicts.... it always seems there is one more design I just can live without
I love all of your answers, gave me quite a chuckle at some of them. When people ask me what I do, I tell them I am a fiber artist. Sounds a bit pretentious, but they stop asking questions at that point. I guess they've never heard of that before? ;)
I think "textile artist" fills all the possibilities that come with machine embroidery. Also multi-media collage artist is just one form of textile artistry. I do not think we can do just embroidery. Creating FSL is creating a textile. It is not just thread anymore. I look forward to more innovation in this industry. Live Laugh Download Stitch!
Just love all the possible names for us. We are the Artsy Craftsy most fabulistics machine embroidery fanaticiscts. My DH says - and then we are not bragging - yet!!!!hehehe LOL
Just found one:Embroidery Idol.....clever digitizer!
I think (MEA) "machine embroidery artist". Although, some are Master, Pro, Apprentice or just an MEA.
Wouldn't it make people wonder if you put MEA after your name like some do with their PHD, etc.?!
A Machine Embroidery Creative Artistic Stitcher and for some people we could add Machine Embroidery Creative Artistic Stitchery Digitizer MECAS or MECASD LOL
All these sound good to me, cause I am still chuckling!!! Hahaha! No matter what I am called (sometimes its Trouble) I love doing my emb projects. Have been working on Christmas gifts and love them all! Let me know what Cuties decide & I will go right along with the choice. Hugs & Love, Judy
Judy, when there is nothing else I feel like doing, I am always happy in my sewing room creating something!
Just Machine-Embroiderer!...Without the hyphen, we actually have a needle that will stitch through the metal and plastic of the machine! Ha! For the most part, I've always heard, "SHE sews. Ask her." That makes my title, Shesewsaskher!:)
How about a "Ceaative Embroidery Machine Artist". If 10 people sat down and started a project and the same designs, most likely all of the projects will be entirely different except for the original design, but it too will have differences! If you have no imagination your chore will be much harder than the person with creative ideas!
I do agree withe the answer, "BROKE" but if we did not spend our money on embroidery materials, we would manage to spend it elsewhere and not have half as much fun!
I, for one, am a Fabriholic.:) Don't see a cure in sight.
There is no cure. The more you have, the more you want! I am never quite satisfied!
Well, since embroidery is my hobby, a relatively recent one, I would call myself Apprentice Embroiderer.
I would call "Artistic Embroiderers" those experienced ladies (there are a few gentlemen too) who are able to create fantastic embroidery projects.
I would call "Artistic Creative geniuses" (quoting bevgrift, below) the Digitizers who create delightful embroideries and projects for the rest of us.
Hugs, Lidia
I till feel like an apprentice, after 3 years. I have a lot I've learned, but it is still challenging - and I think that's one reason I like it so much . There must be a name that is special for those who create those really creative designs...
Right now you can call me "embroiderer frustratis" without a machine for 3 weeks nows...WAH!!
Oh Vicki, you need a sympathy card! Three weeks is cruel and unusual punishment. Anything beyond 10 days we should get very special treatment, and a special parking pass for our disability. Are you knitting a lot now?
Well they can put what ever name they like on me . I know I am a very happy contented lady that like to sit at her machine for hours and be creative ,I bring joy to my adoreable Grandies who are always asking me can I make this or that , and I love it at six and four they will have a passion to sew by the time I finish with them, Cathy
I love your term "Grandies" it's perfect. I had a great time teaching my granddaughter, who is 17, how to make kitty collars. What a delight!
Broke... I'm always buying more designs, threads, stabiliser, etc, etc. xx
I like sewist, rather than stinky pipes. I must, coz it's in my name, after all :)
One of my previous foster greyhounds -Indi. An unusual one in that he sat willingly -their long bones don't really make that easy :)I'm getting grey, but not so much as some :)
Well I still call myself a Dressmaker or Machinist.
When I was paid to do these things I was classed as a Professional Machinist or Professional Dressmaker.
It didn't matter which of the industrial machines I was using, though the overlocker got higher wages for the greater danger so I mostly used the overlocker. hehehehe!
It also didn't matter that I made many more articles than just dresses, it was still dressmaker.
Hmmm? Embroiderer, digitiser, drafts person, machinist, dressmaker?????
I guess it depends WHO is asking. hahahahahaha!
Hugs n roses, Meg
I haven't made any clothing for soooo long. But, I'm having a granddaughter in December!
Where did you do your dressmaking and machine work?
LOL .... I read this and started giggling ... I am still giggling ..... LOL .... My response .. Master Stitcher ????
Artistic creative geniuses.
I do still do seams for all the quilts and accurate ones, at that.
Happy Stitching!
I have really improved in my sewing skills since I started doing machine embroidery. I'm much more accurate. I think rotary cutting has really improved all my projects - what do you think?
Yes "cut right,sew right"
I have some new quilt rulers for Flying geese, such magic.
