Well done, your customer knows the value of a label..well done its fabulous. Hugs Sally
I must admit it did take me a while to do in Embird , it was the first time I have done this (my husband usually does it for me)so it was a good learning curve too.
I gave the label ,the lady today , she was sooo happy with it she gave me $10 ,,,,,
So glad you let us know how this turned out!! I'm glad she was happy, it's a beautiful label. Well done! Hugs, Marji
That's great. Good for you. Thank you for letting us know how it turned out. Wish more Cuties would give us feedback :)
I usually charge per stitches and add the solvy or whatever materials were used.***
I have never charged for doing labels or designs for friends but ususally I print out the design from my software and have them check it over, then I show them how many different colors of thread it will take and ask them to get the thread for it.If they ask how much $$ I say, "Why don't you just let me keep the thread?". Since they don't sew this is a win-win, they don't want thread and I build up my thread library.
I'm bringing this back up for more help from people who make money from embroidery. I know you should at least cover the cost of your materials. Usually people charge per number of stitches, rather than "actual time" it takes, probably because the number of stitches is more of a "constant". The Tajima free program, Pulse Ambassador, has a price calculator built into it, you put how much you charge per 1000 stitches, and it'll tell you how much to charge for the design. Personally, I don't think I'd charge less than $5 for this label. It took you time to do the custom wording, besides the sewing of it. Unless you're doing a favor for a friend, don't short change yourself on the price. If you're going to charge, why not check out what other shops in the area are charging for the same work? It'll give you a good place to start. Good luck, hugs, Marji
This is a very difficult question. Now I have just finished my first monograms, I realise that it is the time that it takes to get everything straight and set up - not the sewing. I think that other Cuties charge by the number of stitches. I am sure that someone more experienced than I am will be able to answer.
Much of my sewing for others I do on an exchange basis, so I'm not much help to you, Monika. People often give me a tea towel, towel etc for me to embroider on for the next gift I'm doing. Works for me and them, and I find it less embarrassing than asking for a certain amount of money.
I like your Idea.
I will also try this and then I will have gifts on hand.
Thank you and hugs
