Well I have a question for you Cuties. I am making placemats and this is a sample of the center, I will be adding keyboard edges on both sides ( I don't know if thats the right term ) anyhow my question is should I add a flower design or corner to the blank triangles? or should I leave it as is? :)

I would add some hand quilting on the triangles with the thread to match the fabric. Hugs Joyce.

You have done a beautiful job. Can't wait to see what it looks like when you have it all done. I wouldn't add to much more design as it will take away from the beautiful work you already have.

I ran out some fabric, so it will be fun to finish

I'm with the others, just a border and maybe some stippling but not obvious. The colours and the hummingbird are lovely.

I would leave it plain fabric so it does not distract from the center focal point. I would look for an embroidered quilting design to put in the corners. Good luck, it looks great so far. Hugs, Susan

I would probably use either the color that matches the fabric...or a clear monofiliment thread which shows the design, but not really the threads. I would also free motion around the hummingbird through all layers to add a "poof" to the embroidery desig

It looks just fine, but if I were to add a design to the triangles, it would be a redwork design that I quilted after I put the placemat together...either that or some stippling after the placemat was together..lovely.

I was thinking stippling, but I never done it before, newbie here, what color would you choose?

dragonflyer by dragonflyer 05 Sep 2012

Oops, posted to another comment...I would use thread to match fabric for stippling or redwork design..or a monofiliment clear thread...shows the design, but not too much emphasis on actual stitching. Also free motion around hummingbird to add "depth" to the bird...

love this! I'd just leave it like it is and I think finishing it off either with the piano keys or even one of the blues you have around the hummingbird.

Beautiful! Design is very nice and so are your colours. I would leave the white as it is and just add borders.

I think if you add any flowers to the triangles, and then the borders, it will take away from the beautiful hummingbird. Love it as it is. Love the colors. Hugs

I think it's lovely the way it is. In case you add some material on both sides to make it a rectangular shape, I would like some material in the same colors as the square and the mebroidery, to make it complete.*for you:)

but i would add some to the left and right side to make it more placemat size /look like hugs

Going to add four colors along both sides in a piano keyboard trim... not sure of the term, Fons and Porter uses it alot, so I think I should leave it as is it may look too busy. Thanks Carolyn and Hugs.

loosie by loosie 05 Sep 2012

Leave the triangles as is but still and the side borders... got to run to school...

A simple redwork design would look nice but a filled design might get too busy and detract from your center design. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
