Hi
These mats are really gorgeous - look as though they were made by an experienced quilter! As you're stitching in the ditch, then turn them over and see which thread looks best on the reverse.
A quick tip - when stitchin' in the ditch, pull the seams apart with your fingers as you go, and use a bigger stitch, say, 3.0 or 3.5.
They will look fantastic! Valerie, UK
I guess I see the fabrics in a different way. I would quilt it with a silvery grey in swirls all over except the bird. The fabrics remind me of winter colors.
These are really beautiful. CJ
I agree with what all the other quilters said, hee hee hee. Just to confuse you further, think what it's going to look like on the other side, that will make a pretty pattern, too. I think you did a wonderful job on these! Hugs, Marji
Beautiful job! If stitching in the ditch you don't want it to show, so you would use a color that is not noticeable.
I'm sure whichever way you decide, it will turn out wonderful!
They are wonderful. If it was me I would take the thread I liked and let some of it off of the spool on to the placemat to see what the effect the color of thread had on the design
These are beautiful! I would use white for the white part, so the design stands out like it does now!
Beautiful and from what you have typed up blue is your first thought. The main thing is stitching in ditch is so as not to show off thread. These are so pretty and I know you'll finish them wonderfully by your choice.
I agree with Dragonflyer & Lucy they are just terrific! you have done a great job! Hugs Loralye
I like the light blue, that is because I do not think I have seen a verigate in the ditch. Have fun! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I would use light blue. These placemats are beautiful...great job.
If you are going to stitch in the ditch choose the thread that is the least noticeable on the fabric that you are stitching on. You may have to change your color several times. Use bobbin thread to match your back color.
Just Lovely! When you quilt "in the ditch" you usually want your stitches as close to the seam as you can get without crossing up on the other side of the "ditch" and you don't want your stitches to show...thus "in the ditch"...so I would choose a color closest to the "ditch" side of the fabric you are sewing on..hope that makes sense...If you want to quilt the large white triangles, and don't want to stipple, you could use your walking foot and just grid the triangles with a 1" grid, 1/2" grid or whatever...it's really easy and also very traditional. Whatever you decide, you did a wonderful job...
If these were mine I would use light blue. They are just adorable, you have done a great job on these. Hugs..Carol
Decide if you want your quilting to stand out or be in the background first. If you want it to stand out, match the darkest color on your placemat. If you want it be in the background, choose the lightest color match. You have done a lovely job. ;)
I agree, the purple will blend in the best. They are wonderful
purple of course thats the color you see when you look at it right??hugs
Wow, they are lookig great!! My vote is for the blue, if you are only doing in-the-ditch quilting. But whatever you choose will look lovely.
