Hi all ! Wondering if you change your needle after stitching a mylar design ?? Design was about 12000 stitches and I started with a new needle. Wondering if mylar dulls a needle more than just material ? Thanks !

Welcome to Cute. I'm glad that you are here. Thank you for asking this question. I just assumed it would and had a needle designated for mylar only, but I know see that I can bring it out to play with the rest of the guys. ;)

Mylar does not dull a needle, however if a needle is dull it could leave larger holes. It is similar to water soluble stabilizer in that way.

I use mylar quite often and treat my needles just the same as normal. Haven't found them getting blunt with it

First of all welcome to Cute. This is a wonderful site with many very knowledgeable people. As to your question - I have Mylar in my stash but have never used it. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer your interesting question. Sarah (South Africa)
