I decided to finish up a tote bag i was working on. Fabric needed to be pressed so I filled the iron so I would have plenty of steam. My son came in and I was distracted talking to him and laid my hand down to hold the fabric ,got a blast of steam right on my thumb. Owww! Very painful but hasn't blistered so maybe it wont. Now the worst part. I went back later to cut my fabric,33x21. Well I cut it 33x12. I'll sew it back together and it will become the lining instead of the outside. I'll finish it if it's the last thing i do.

Oh, gee, aren't some days like that? When it starts to go downhill, that ball gets rolling fast, hee hee hee. If you have an aloe vera plant, that juice is really good on burns. Too late now, I'm sure, but it does cool the sting and heat when you use it right away. It's still good to use till the burn heals. I know what you mean about cutting the fabric wrong! The burn will heal, the fabric won't! I transpose numbers like that sometimes, it makes me crazy, especially when I do something like you did. I hope you can start over again another day, and everything will go better for you. I look at Connecting Threads a lot, and have gotten thier fabric, but not a kit. Which one did you get? I just love their fabric, inexpensive with an expensive feel to it, and their price on batik can't be beat! Big hugs, and I hope the new day is better for you. Marji

I bought the 3 sheep tote kit, very nice fabric and I have leftovers. Got it on sale. Connecting Threads is now a favorite. I love their fabric. Today will be better. We actually got rain in Texas.

Owww, poor you. Hope it gets better quickly. Maybe the cutting error will turn out to be a creative flair. Sometimes mistakes turn out to be a way to make it better. Sounds like some of my experiences. Take care!

Some mistakes do turn into something even better, and if you don't tell no one would know. I call them happy accidents.

This sounds like something I would do. Hope your finger pain goes away soon. I know you will find an inventive way to finish your tote and it will be better then you had originally pictured it.

Feels better now. I know I'll be more careful around the iron.
Thanks Karen

Ouch. Steam really hurts. I am glad you are not letting this project get you down. Looking forward to seeing it in project.

We just have to press on,this time without steam. Mis cutting the fabric I think annoyed me more than the burn. Can't buy more because it was a kit

Sorry about your scald. Question. Do you use kits often and if you do, do you find it saves buying too much of everything when you are trying something new or just want one of the item? Jan

I bought the kit from connecting threads on sale. it has very nice fabric and more than enough. You must add your own batting. I don't use them very often but this one caught my eye.
