beautiful I made one of these dint look any thing as good as yours!. thanks to seeing this I will try again thank you xx
Susan I pm you about the bear is it walter ?...soozie
Yes, it is Walter Soozie. The patchwork is actually a cotton print fabric. Keep the print small though when purchasing for better results. hugs, Susan
This bear is really pretty, I love it. I made Walter in the fur and I think the fabric would be so much nicer. Thank you for inspiration.
Love it!
Just noticed that it's a post dated 26 Sep 2012.
Hugs, Lidia
Hi Susan, I was wondering how you did the center circle for the tummy. I purchased Walter and he has heart. I would like to make the one like you have here. Can you give me his name? Or how you got those circles like you have. My grandson wants me to make one like this but with his favoriet team's name in center circle.
Hugs Joann
For the circle on this bear, I used the oval frame design that is in my Brother embroidery machine. It just happened to be the correct size. I did a straight stitch to tack it down, trimmed it, then did a satin stitch over it. The feet, i just omitted the stitch lines and did the oval. Hope this helps, I think your GS has a good idea. I have even thought of embroidering a pumpkin or shamrock etc. on the belly area. Hugs, Susan
This will be a beautiful gift for your little one (lucky her). Great work.
Wow Susan, your bears are fabulous :-)
I have this design in my collection, but have been afraid to try it.
but I have read through your tips and am now inspired to have a go,
do you think sewing together with invisible thread would be ok
big hugs from London - Maria xx
Yes, it should work. I have not tried it myself. Jerri suggested I try sewing the bear together with dental floss. I have been using hand quilting thread to sew by hand. Hugs, Susan Don't forget to post pictures when you are done.
I tried with invisible thread and found it aggravating and think I'd like to try dental floss.
Love your Teddy Bear and your color choice's. Thanks for sharing!
The bear is absolutely adorable. I agree with others, it's an inspiration. I would love to try to make one. Your choice of fabric is perfect! It is such a bright and happy bear!
It's beautiful!! could you tell me where I can get the patterns??. My niece is born next week and I would like to give her one. Thank you very much! and forgive my English
As I said above the embroidery design comes from www.embroidery-outlet.com It is on sale till Sept. 30th It is found at Designs In the Hoop It is the hear called Walter.
Adorable....Since I see that you made these out of material instead of fur I have decided to purchase a bear. I have the frog and it is cute but hard to turn since it has thin legs and arms. I make several at a time and turn, stuff while watching tv. I will be making these for hospice children for Christmas and for my GGC. Oh gonna try one in black and gold for Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hugs Joann
These designs are half price until Sunday. I've just treated myself to one.
Can a person buy the Happy Birthday Bear
my e-mail is bingolee40@aol.com if so how much are they
I was curious how you are stitching the pieces together. I made her dragon last night and it took me two hours just for the hand stitching and I'm still not overly happy with it. I'm wondering if there is a "correct" way to do it lol.
It does take a long time to sew them tovether. I probably spend 5 or more hours to sewing my bears together. I use a blind stitch or some people call it a ladder stitch. When it doesn't look right I tear out the stitches and sew it again. Will be waitting to see a picture when you are finished. Hugs, Susan
This Teddy is great! How do I get the design and pattern project
You ccan buy theembroidery design/pattern for this bear at www.embroidery-outlet.com It is under Designs then under In the Hoop. It is the bear called Walter.
This little bear is just so sweet. I love it to bits. I am sure your little grand daughter will too. Hugs Shirley
Susan each bear gets better and better.. Simply stunning. Well done Love her :)
He is adoable, could tell me how to cut the feet to sew them on the legs??? Please please . love JoAnn
Hi JoAnn, For the feet I use my seam ripper. I poke a hole in fabric without the embroidery. I make this hole centered and about one inch up from the back of the foot. Then I use my scissors and cut the hole just big enough to turn the foot and get my finger in to stuff it. Be sure the cut is not bigger than the leg opening. Then I sew the open end of the leg over the cut in the foot. Hope this belps you. Hugs, Susan
Hi Susan
I am trying one, as your patchwork plaid one just inspired me so much.
I am making it in Canadian flag material so I can take it down to the States for my GD, who just moved there at the end of June. I hope mine turns out as well as yours. If I don't post a picture, you know it didn't turn out and will have to try again.
Hugs Jerri
Oh Jerri, you will do just fine! I stuff my head and very firmly. The arms and legs I stuff loose so they are soft and floppy. The feet are stuffes in between. When I sew the parts together I found using straight pins to hold the parts where I want them helps alot. I've alot of stitching and unstitching to get results I'm satisified with. You have any questions feel free to pm me. Best wishes, Susan
Hi Susan: I have all the pieces sewn out and turned, now for the stuffing and putting it all together. I think for my next one I will omit the little extra pieces like you did. It looks just as nice and not so much work. I can only do the 4x4 size. Do you use dental floss to sew the parts together. I have made alot of stuffed animals and dental floss is the best. Its so strong that you can pull it tight and it doesn't break. Just thought I would pass that along if you didn't know it already. Great for sewing on buttons too..... Hugs Jerri
Thanks for the dental floss idea. I have not heard of this before. I have been using hand quilting thread. I would love to see your bear when you are finished Jerri. Hugs, Susan
Oh my gosh, this is just too cute. You do such an awesome job on your bears and I just love your fabric choices. Hugs..Carol
this is one beautiful Birthday bear and what a great fabric combination Maria
This is so darling. I know she will love. You do a great job.
Amazing - you have really got value for money with these designs!
This is just darling! How long does it take you to make one of these? I noticed the sale is ending soon. I would like to have an idea of how long it takes to make one so I can decide if I should purchase this design. (I'm thinking it could be a really cute thing to make for my daughter's friends' birthdays if it didn't take too long.)
It does take quite a while to make one. I probably spend at least 3 hours at the embroidery machine. Then it takes me about 6 - 8 hours to turn all the pieces right side out, stuff and then assemble. For me it is alabor of love. Hugs, Susan
I had a sneaking feeling it took a long time, which is why I didn't purchase the design. (I'd have to be related to the child to spend that much time - LOL!) I'll have to just admire yours when you post pictures! They really are adorable!!
These bears do all have different personality. I love the rainbow of color here and sure the birthday girl will be very happy with!
