Today's experiment - ITH stockings. The first one is patchwork with an open top. The second one is zipped. The zip is concealed under the fur (shown in the third picture.)

Ooo the one with the zipper is really cute. Is there a chance you will offer this to work in a 4x4 format, that is if you do? I am limited at this time and still $700 away from my new machine. :(

Sorry but it won't work any smaller - in a 4x4 format the zip would only be 2 inches long!

Since zippers are more work, I might try a velcro strip; love your patchwork stocking.

I can't work out how to stitch velcro in in the hoop - zips are easy!

pcteddyb by pcteddyb 06 Oct 2012

In general you treat velcro like you treat an applique - the velcro is where the fabric goes. One "applique" for the scratchy part and one "applique" for the softee part. This one would take some engineering on how it was built in order to do in a single hooping and still make it a reasonable size. The hidden zipper is a really nice thing for this one !

Very clever idea. I like them both. Some fancy stitches on the patchwork one would give it an antique crazy quilt look. Hugs, Susan
