Well cuties I have to tell you that I have discovered that the hardest part of quilting is all the ironing. This is usually no big deal but lately I have started experiencing the dreaded menospause (they have been telling me I am in this for the last 10 years) and I can tell you I spend more time dressing and undressing than I do embroidering or quilting. I have

had flashes before but this is just infernal. Starts at your inner core and rises faster than a volcano. DH doesn't know which way to run went I start ranting and raving. I am either freezing or burning up. Both in the matter of minutes. Whoever thought this was a good thing to give us women (had to be a man) was a very creul person. I am now dressing in layers (3 to be exact) and think I am losing my mind.
What a way to spend our golden years. Golden my eye
LOL
Thanks for letting me vent now on to my next flash
hugs
Michelle

This is not one of the clubs we intentionally sign up for!!!!
When I found out my eyelids perspire, I was so surprised.
You described it all so well! Ha!
Remember that you are not alone and talking about it with women helps!
Hang in there.

I so wear shorts and tank tops all year long if I am inside. I even have the heat turned down. My family sits with fleece sweats on and blankets and I just shake my head at them. (At least this way I know what I can make them for Christmas.) :)
I didn't want to take any hormones so my doctor had me take evening primrose (you can get over the counter). I have tried it at night and in the morning. I find night works best for me. Just have to see when it works best for you. Good-luck. Remember you are not alone in this - but you may feel like it when your family runs and hides. :)

I hate those power surges too! I can get them if I use a hot towel straight from the dryer, which used to be a favorite of mine - LOL. If I kind of iron as I go on quilts, then it isn't such a big deal later at the end. You are such a crazy cutie, Michelle! - hang in there, you'll survive - or maybe not! Hugs, Jan

Hi Jan, nice to hear from you, I haven't seen you on lately.
Oh I know I will survive, I may come out a little more wrinkled at the end but I will make it.

I could charge batteries!

michemb by michemb 31 Oct 2012

Charge batteries, run a generator, imagine what global warming is doing to our planet. We experience a tiny bit of what the whole world is producing.
Something to think about with all the crazy weather we are having, Hey maybe mother nature is in menopause.

My heart goes out to you having suffered the most terrible hot flushes for over 20 years. At long last at the tender age of 68 I seem to be over it. It will pass - I promise. :)) Hugs Sarah.

Thanks Sarah

I am so sorry. It is torture to be sure. My husband and I are also wondering where the term Golden Years came from. It is certainly not golden for us.

Sorry to hear things are not as you hoped, hot flashes are a pain but life in general is pretty good,

Oh i feel your pain as well, ironing and cooking are the worst just that little bit of heat starts it up then it is jumper on jumper off jumper on jumper off,and then sometime you get soo frustrated you dont know which one you are hot or cold, my kids just shake thier heads and walk away because they know i am about to loose it. lol no monthly cycle is the ONLY good thing about this

yep cooking, that is the other one and now that BBQ season is over (DH does most of the cooking in the summer) I will have to take over again. This weekend my sister (she is also in the flash cycle) and I are making our traditional meat pies (usually between 80 and 100 pies) and I am guessing our DH's will have a hooting fun time with us. Just hope our flashes are timed together so it is less painful (for them) lol

This they say shall pass and I thought it had. Started the flashes a few years back but hadn't had anything for more than a year and I was doing the happy dance. Then 2 months ago they started up again and now they are much worse than before, quess it is time to get the hormone levels checked again. I will think of you on my next flash
(about 20 minutes from now LOL)
hugs
Michelle

hightechgrammy by hightechgrammy 29 Oct 2012

You know there are a few different kind of medications that can take the flashes away. If I wasn't on the meds, I would be melting down all the time. At least i only get a hot flash about once a week now. If I were not on the meds, I think I would have several per day....
