You can make FSL with Embird in actual fact any design can be made with the studio software. Lessons can be found at http://www.flyingneedle.ca/embird... and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/The...
great info.! So the question is where is the safest place to buy the program? Secrets of Embroidery? I bought a program last year from a siteto do designing and crashed my whole system..I now have a new laptop for embroidery only :) ..Any suggestions as to where to buy?
I downloaded free embird few years ago the program it is easy if I remember to work with. I just need full program Embird basic and the studio so can digitize. Hope to spring on hubby soon and get started. I am not sure but if you got questions the wonderful ladies that have answered my question would probably answer you if you ask question direct in community or digitizing. You just might be answering me before you know it. Hugs
Hi Mary,
I have Embird and although I have not purchased the studio package for digitizing I LOVE this program. It has opened up a whole new world for me. I do want to start digitizing eventually but right now I am having loads of fun with what I have.

As Martine (my heroine and mentor) says I use Embird. I had the software as a Christmas present so I haven't had it a year yet but I love it. ITH designs are my "thing" but I haven't tried FSL yet. All I would say is that you have to put the time in to learn. (The more I practice, the cleverer I become!)
Thank you Sue this information means a lot for me. I love challanges in anything of the arts. Not many I have not dug into. Somethings we accel in more so than others. The idea of making ith or lace my own. Has grown into I gotta have passion. Want with desire. So I am excited knowing I can make little stuffies etc. I am starting to doodle my ideas down.
I have done quite a few FSL designs with Embird, rather easy ones like the Christmas ornament (see link), or more elaborate ones like the fuchsia (see picture). And I've digitised several ITH designs, like the soft toys, the finger- and hand-puppets. And Sue Dewsbury does all her popular designs in Embird.
You always have to buy Embird basic and for digitising you need Studio. I would add FontEngine (to digitise lettering) and Iconiser (to see your designs in Explorer without first opening them) too.
I love your stuff the fuchsia is awesome and all you have made that I have done has stitched like a dream. You have answered my question wonderfully.
HI,
Embird has a basic editor-manager package to start with- if you want to digitize then you add on the Studio module from embird.
Learning is such a personal thing. Some people learn better with lessons and others by jumping in.
There is a lot of help on yahoo groups and other places to help with lessons if you like. A comprehensive learning module at secretsof and
another module learning set from flying needle come to mind and I'm sure there are many more out there.
Its about putting in the time and as in all things some are more gifted
at it than others but everyone can learn if they have the time to do the
work.
Good luck with your choice and I'm sure others have good advice.
Hi HighlanderMom, I too am using Embird and I began by opening any design in Studio to correct some of the jump stitches and learned from there on my own!!! I did get one lesson to help with something I was doing in FSL but so far that was it, it's really easy when you practice 'hands on' learning!! The link below is my second project in FSL that turned out really nice, depending on how well you wish to digitize, there will be lots of 'manual' editing to perfect your piece but it's Fuuuuuuun!!! Good Luck Dolly
Thank you so much. You cinched it. I tend to dig in get little flustrated hit again till I get something. So hearing I can dig and dig till I get it. Maybe I will have to hit Santa up for early Chirstmas. You said Fuuuuuuuuuuun! I love your candle cover. It is on my do list.
Hi HighLanderMom! I bought Embird mostly as for the reasons you quoted. I also signed up for lessons at Stitches In Motion Site. They seemed the most realizable for the most. Also, I did not have to purchase all 30 lessons at the first of lessons. They are 10 at a time and I have been so busy I am stopped on number 11. Hahaha!! Everytime I think I will have some digitizing time to learn, something happens to change that fact about. I went through the first 10 lessons and truely enjoyed them. You must buy Basic and Studio 6. And only the other modules if you want them. I have 4-D Software so didn't need the fonts etc. I may get them later, but not yet. I purchsed mine at Secrets Of, it is a few dollars less than elsewhere. Hope I have been a little help, Someone will come along and Really help you out, I am sure. Hugs & maybe you can help me later.!!! Hahaha! Judy
Thank you for this much infro. I am hoping to say to Santa, It does and I can. Then find it under tree.
