this looks terrific & all the best on the fix. I also agree that Chris's idea seams a good fit for this problem.
Beautiful job and I have to agree with Chris and her idea or yours would try before actually working on project see how it looks.
Wow a lot of work here but you will get it finished i am sure hugs carolyn
Hi 'Killiecrankie' - I would try doing hand stitching through the fabric. As it is only the number 2 to be done I am sure you could hand draw the number on the fabric with a water soluble pen in the outline and then I would do a back-stitch. I've done this before and I think the one shown below in the link would work well. Of course you will have to use the thread that you sewed the rest of the design in. I would make sure the stitches were small so that if you decided to do the 'threaded back-stitch' it would look really neat and tidy. Love Chris
Thank you for the idea.I have plenty of thread & will have a few goes at this ,to see if I can get it to look right before I do it on the book . My idea with the organza probably will not work because the stitches at the beginning & end are just double or triple straight stitches ,so trimming the organza back so it couldn't be seen would mean that the 2 could unravel.
I think your idea will work just fine. This is gorgeous and shows both how hard you worked on it and the craftsman it took to do it.
It is so nicely done and you must be shattered about the date. I would try to take it apart (but you might have glued it already to a backing) and rehoop it and stitch on the missing "2". The good thing is you do have space to put in a two. We have some really creative cuties so someone might have an amazing fix for you.
