quilt as you go place mats, with self binding-youtube
"Tutorial:Quilt-as-you-go placemats" is the title of the video so maybe if you go to youtube , and search with this wording
well you can always buy pre-quilted fabric. I quilt the batting & the top & then I embroidery it & then I add the backing fabric & do a bit of quilting sew that the layers will stay together & wash well Then I add the binding. I hope this helps. If I have pre-quilted fabric I do the same add the embroidery & then the back & maybe echo quilt around the design & then do the binding. Sometimes I will just layer & stitch & flip without a binding too. ~Hugs Loralye~
If you want them to be embroidered reversable you could do 2 the same as the tops & sew without adding the binding just layer stitch & turn rightsides back out & stich remaining spot by hand.
I would do quilting placemats youtube, it gives you several options.
I have been making some place mats for christmas gifts ,I embroider first then quilt if I am adding binding or if I am turning through I will quilt last.
