I am making my daughter a damask table cloth for her new enormous table. I have managed to mitre the corners but can anyone tell me how I sew the two edges of the mitre together? I am not a very neat hand sewer!!! Sarah.

Good question Sarah, and thank you Anita for the link to the video, I am shocking at hand stitching.

Thankyou for asking that, and thankyou to capoodle for supplying the answer. The video is excellant and answers lots of questions. I was also nice to see some one still using a treadle machine, it sewed beautifully. Ruth

Thank you both Chris and Anita for your input. I also found a very good one called Rosey Corner which deals with a wide hem, which is what my daughter wanted. Hem all done. Washed and now drying on the line before I put a monogram on it. I will put it in projects when finished. Hugs Sarah.

Hi Sarah,

I just typed in "How to mitre a corner when sewing" at GOOGLE and there is a great PDF on how to do it. Love Chris

P.S. It is the Martha Stewart one.

Copy and paste this for a U-Tube video. No hand stitching when done this way. There are other videos along the side. Good luck what ever method you choose. There are several ways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd...

Guess you don't have to copy and paste but when put in as a link it didn't work.
