I have been testing all the different brands of thread that I have since my new machine arrived on Tuesday. My previous machine had major thread issues hence the new one! Probably the cheapest to buy but the best thread (in my opinion) is one from Zikria Suleman, made in Pakistan. Available in boxes of 12 from Ebay seller thread-mill. It feels almost chain-like and has worked really well on different fabrics.

I'm a Metro girl...love the quality, shine and price! You can't beat it...not sure what shipping internationally would be, but for USA cuties...It's a real bargain.

I have some Madeira but not Isacord, might try that next time. Found some discontinued threads in my local sewing shop today so bought a few of them.

I never really had a problem with any thread, its usually the needles fault because they have become blunt or have developed a burr on the tip of the needle. At the moment I am using Sarta thread which I have been buying at the local market for $1 for 1000m reel although I have Raimen ,Isacord ,Madeira ,Sulky ,Mettler & others.

I haven't tried Isacord yet. There are some good deals on eBay for it.

I think they are based in Bradford in the UK but if you search on eBay for seller 'thread-mill' you should find them. At £7.25 for a box of 12 AND great quality I am very happy!! Have found them on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Rayo... I know it's a long link but it should take you there. Looks like they sell for £3.99 a box with £3.00 UK postage or £7.25 post free. Not sure where you are or what the postage would be for you.

Sadly, it's not my home :-( It's in Bruges in Belgium, and was on the way from the coach drop off point to the town. I had to take a picture as it's so pretty.

I have used these threads since I bought my janome350e in 2009 had no real problems apart from the odd snapped thread machine prefers to sew at low speed though but that's no hardship for me realy, it does not like the black however so I use a named brand if I need black
