Stella, I see that lbrow has given you a great link to the PROJECTS and her toile style embroidery is marvelous. Toile is embroidery that is usually stitched in ONE color. Very easy to stitch out - light airy stitching - use a lightweight stabilizer and you could use a WSS (water soluble stabilizer) in the top - above the fabric - if you don't want the stitching to sink into your fabric - it washes away really easily. I do hope this helps, Shirlene
WOW, from the time I popped in and answered this - there were many more that gave you great tips, too. The CUTE family is always helpful.
I am really bad with the knowing which stabilizers to use. you can not know how much I needed the information. Thanks. WSS is the same as Solvy. Right?

Try this link and you will see toile emb. I have posted in projects/Lillian
Thanks for this link also. I can't imagine how you have the time to find them. I really do appreciate the help. The sweat shirt is beautiful! The placement of the designs is beautiful! I don't have that type of skill, but maybe some day I will. Thanks again. Stella
Go to link I have provided and you will see some toile Emb I posted here on cute./Lillian
Cuties to the rescue again. Thanks so much for this link. It's great to be a part of the Cuties nation. Stella
This was an answer given previously here on cute
I am amazed at how quickly Cuties can find links. Thanks so much for finding and responding. Stella
I believe Toile is a French term for a redwork type design...but detailed, not just a redwork outline. They are all one color, usually blue, and are quite detailed designs of single, double and triple runlines with possible a slight intro of satin lines...but one color with lots of detail. I think that some dutch delft designs are "toile" designs as well...But, I'm just expressing my interpretation...any input from othe Cuties is appreciated...
Good question. I believe it may mean that the design is like redwork. Simple and often with one color. No special techniques required. It would be interesting to read other answers.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. I like the idea that no special techniques are required.
