I keep seeing people advertize their designs free or to purchase here on Cute. My question is this. How do we know if they are allowing Miss Veronika to advertize on their website? I love giving flowers to those who support Miss Veronika, but not to those who are looking for customers at Miss Veronika's expense. And I certainly would rather spend my money on a Cute webite first. Ok I have asked and I have vented.

At this time, these are the only ones approved and who are set up with reciprocal advertising with Miss Veronika: manami, mpo14011, basketkase, christief, lynn123rose. There are a couple of more who are willing to do advertising, but are awaiting a special page that is being worked on to direct visitors onto her site. I will not name them until that happens. The balance of folks who ONLY come here for the traffic are being removed as we see them.

There is a difference between the Cuties who are members and post freebies in the "Designs By Cuties" section who have their own businesses, and the businesses who post comments with a link to their website to get a freebie in order to generate business. Right now, I think how the "Designs By Cuties" works is great...a Cutie posts a free design and you don't have to go to their website, but the info is there. They conform to Miss V's rules and all is well.

The problem for me is that businesses...not individual people...seem to be posting links to their own sites telling us to go to their site to get a freebie. I don't think that the purpose of this forum is to provide free advertising to businesses that compete with Cuteembroidery. Afterall, this is a business that depends on people purchasing its products. I would think that those kind of posts should be deleted, and that moderators should monitor that kind of activity.

This is not to say that I object to an individual Cutie posting a link to freebies. There is no personal monetary gain possible to that Cutie in doing so. It might be easier if all links to freebies ended up under the freebies tab.

But there is something about it when I see a business posting a "come to my website and get a freebie" that really really annoys me.

I feel that there are far too many posts on this forum which are directing people to other websites. (I include all of the Freebie posts in this.) Veronika is extremely tolerant of these at the moment, but I think it is probably time for her to draw the line.

Some of these sites sell/give away illegal designs. I wish such advertising not be allowed (it could possibly lead to ramifications of this site as being supportive of the illegal site).

I sometimes see in freebies where someone will say here is a great design, yes it is illegal but it is free. If you know it is illegal why in the world are you telling us? Just makes no sense to me.

I commented to one of the same yesterday. Our moderators should remove these links.

When I first started in this, most every site had a LINKS tab, with other sites to go see. I don't know why that practice stopped. Perhaps those that are allowed to advertise here should have a special tab on the side bar below digitizing where they can put their information, and not in the mainstream threads. That gives us the power to look or not.

Great idea! Miss V should give them a special star or something like that to know she endorsed them... Suzanne

I so agree, maybe those that have been endorsed by Miss V should have a special star or something like this so we would instantly know. :)
