I saok it a bit until vilene is gone and then wahs it with warm water it depent how stif it has to be fot hanging or standing more tthen a cloth. I leit it dry in between two dishclothes with a woden thing on it for a day or night and remove the wodev steak plate and let dry until almost dry. I steam it on low at the wrong site and if ness. I shape it'. Good luck

I press mine all the time...sometimes I use spray starch and press, too! My mother-in-law always soaked the crochet items in a mix of sugar and water...then she would lay out on a cardboard covered with a cotton cloth and pin around the doily just pulling a bit and poke the pin into the cardboard to hold it while it dried...you could fling those doilies like a frisbee when she was done!

That's how my mother made crochet snowflakes. They are still hanging on the tree as stiff as a board.

I have made a lot of fsl. After it dries I always press it with steam and then let it dry thoroughly. While it is still a bit damp you can shape it for leaves, flower petals, wings, etc.

Only rinse it out just enough to make the vilene not visible. Lay it flat on the counter. Put a heavy book on it. Come back a few days later and remove the book and let it finish drying. It should be stiff and flat.
